  1. I've had the best day of fishing of my life on a jerkbait. I've caught my personal best on a jerkbait. An my go to bait is a jig...
  2. That's what I've done. But if there was something that I could slip over the hook for 5-7 seconds and it be sharp, well that would be the bees knees. My early year tournaments, my hands get so cold and stiff, plus with gloves on. That trying to retie can be way more difficult than it should.
  3. I ordered 3, and am trying to sell gear now. Can't say I really blame you. Hahaha
  4. I fish a lot of jigs, and a majority of that time is in gnarly rock. Therefore, very often my jigs come back to the boat with a bent and dull hook. Typically what I do is bend the hook back and use a hand file to bring it back. But during tournaments this can be time consuming. So I'll typically tie on a new jig. So im wondering if you guys are using any type of electric hook sharpeners, or something that allows you to sharpen fast and effortlessly? If it were fast, having that peace of mind of a sharp hook would be great. Not unusual for me to have $30 of jigs thrown on the deck dull during tournaments.
  5. That some of us were born to play tennis, and the rest of us play guard the buffet line.
  6. No wonder you didn't buy my other rod! Hahaha
  7. Good deal for you guys that doesn't carry a keg with them. +1 this.
  8. @Nick Barker I'll +1 again on the trion. I've got 3 I use for panfish and trout. Excellent little reels.
  9. @Nick Barker I'll +1 the president. Excellent reel, especially for the money.
  10. Id stick to the president for a reel personally, those are great. The rod, another option would be dobyns is coming with a panfish rod. Right now the rod can be had for 100. Once they actually become public they're supposed to retail for over 200.
  11. @browne762 they're not publicly announced really. They don't even have them on their website. You have to call and order them to get them. 735cb is sold out.
  12. Yep, I've got a 744c, 743c, and 712 s ordered. Little disappointed the 735cb sold out so quick. Would have really liked to upgrade my cranking rods.
  13. Dobyns is selling limited numbers of a new series of rods coming out. Right now they're $100 +20 shipping for however many rods you want. Once they go on market they're supposed to retail $200+
  14. Atta boy. How in the world did you break the rod there?
  15. I watch Jacob wheeler and scott Martin fairly often.
  16. 65lb power pro. If I hook a buick on the bottom of the lake im bringing it home.
  17. Depends on the reel for me. Most shimano reels I spend about an hour. That's stripping down to bare frame, sonic cleaning any metal parts, and degreasing plastic parts with a brush. Daiwa reels are the worst for me. They seem to be more complicated. If you don't do the correct procedure you can't get something back on. I often find myself having to back track removing parts to get the next on haha. I might spend 2 hours on them. If im having a bad day, possibly longer hahaha.
  18. Precisely. You can only do so much. But if you enjoy tinkering and trying to make something better, than more power to the person!
  19. All my ceramic bearings, I clean, than put a light drop off oil, work in oil for a second, than I give the bearing a puff of air from my compressor. This gives it a very light coat and keeps the noise down while still having good performance.
  20. Paris lake doesn't have a club, but we have tournaments on mondays, and several benefit tournaments on it through the year. Mill creek has tournaments all through the year. Shelbyville has tons of tournaments.
  21. @Zachc24Cumberland club, bass akwards, mattoon lake has a club, newton hosts tournaments all through winter, illinois team trails.
  22. @Mjmj I do alot of flipping and an it's effortless for me to make a 30-35'. I can tell instantly by how the spool free spins. Now I say that, I feel it's an improvement. But don't expect a night an day difference. But if I can do a cheap easy upgrade im happy. I think I have the seller saved. Let me look. Hobbybearingstore is the seller. For some reason it says the seller is away? Not sure what's up. Last time I bought from him I paid $23. His prices have gone up. But still little over $3 a bearing is way cheaper. I will tell you when I bought from over seas like this it's taken up to a month to recieve them.
  23. Yep, usually I can run through mine for the most part. This year I've had to order parts for 3 different reels, from 3 different manufacturers. Really slows the process. I've been tempted for years to get a refrigerator box to work in. That way when that clip or spring flies I can actually find it. Hahaha @Delaware Valley Tackle do you have your own refrigerator box you work out of?
  24. I've bought several 10 packs off there straight from china. Like $20 bucks, beating the middle man I reckon lol. I buy the orange seal ceramic, they run well, but can be a bit noisy. So I started putting just a tiny bit of oil on them now. I upgrade the spool bearings on almost all my reels with these.
