  1. If you do switch mos I would go for something technical, anything to help you out in the long run. I was a rf communications tech and it took me 6 months just to get someone to give me an interview after I got out of the Marines. Unless you plan on going law enforcement when you get out infantry isn't gonna be that huge on a resume. Even if you do go civil service (ie cop, fireman, emt) all they really care about is service. If I were you I would shoot for warrant officer. Officer pay + flight pay is pretty nice. Not to mention officers get a lot more respect. On the down side being a black hawk pilot is probably pretty dangerous if we get majorly involved in any conflict.
  2. I have the rocket and a regular tatula. Like the tatula better. Just my 2 cents.
  3. I just snap it to the side instead of down. The biggest thing I think is having some slack in the line
  4. I think the mh abus are pretty beefy sticks, but if it doesn't feel right to you I would return it and see if they can order you the heavy rod
  5. Having a lifetime warranty is nice, but I could live without one. I feel like the warranties have been built into the price for a lot of rods, but if manufacturers scale back the warranties will they also scale back the prices? Doubt it
  6. Killer gill, don't need any other color
  7. X2 but I use it in 12 lb. I like it a lot, very manageable.
  8. I used to use braid for everything, now I use it for anything with a single hook, for trebles I prefer the forgiveness of mono. Also I don't believe that fishing without a leader deters the bite.
  9. The crate is good enough for me, I isually only take out 2-3 rods on my kayak (ride 115) so the 3 rod holder on the crate does just fine. I would start with that, and the more you have it on the water the more you will know where you want to put stuff.
  10. I like 90s rock the best, I listen to a lot of 90s rap too. I have a pretty wide variety on my ipod, I'm not too picky.
  11. Good job nev. Shoot me a pm and I'll hook you up with some jigs from siebert outdoors

Most of the time for me they slurp it, and I just do a sweep set. It seems to me when there's a big slash more often than not they don't have it
  13. I may be laughed out of this thread but I prefer the tatula over the zillion. I think both would be good for 3/8 + trailer, not sure about 1/4.
  14. I like the owner ultra head finese ball head in 2/0 for tubes
  15. x2. I have the ride 115 and love it but it is HEAVY. 78lbs doesn't sound that heavy when you look at it on paper, but loading it on a car solo is a different story.
  16. I own several revos and daiwas, and I prefer the tatula. I believe that it is a much smoother reel. I will say that ergonomically they are two very different reels, so be sure to put both on a rod before you buy.
  17. What size leaders are you guys using for bass
  18. The majority that I catch here in mass are fairly small, around 1lb and 18" or less, although it's not uncommon to hook into a bigger one.
  19. I like the st croix ultra lights as well Also pan fish are a lot of fun to catch on fly rods.
  20. I'm a huge fan of the avid. Another rod I would check out is the kistler klx. Kistler does 15% off a lot too so the klx can be had for around 150
  21. Had an awesome day on the kayak today, got 4 bass and one real ticked off pickerel. Biggest bass was 4lbs. They were hitting spinnerbaits and swim jigs.
  22. Good to know, I have the same problem with guy hooking them. But more often than not I just keep the trout and cook it up
  23. I have the zillion and the tatula, if I were to buy new reel right now I'd get the tatula. I don't feel like the zillion is any better, never mind being 100$ better. Also since the zillion is on sale I would imagine that a new zillion may be in the works.
  24. Goose, I'm pretty sure the mirage drive can be pulled up when necessary Also I don't see it as overkill, it allows you to manuver the boat while fighting a fish. Like anything else you got to pay for the premium features.
  25. Used to think it was 100 for a rod, then 200, now I got a st croix legend elite calling my name. And of course you can't just put any reel on a legend elite.....
