  1. Took a fly fishing class this morning, after eating up one of my leaders I got the hang of it and managed a few blue gills and this little guy. Anyone know what it is?
  2. As long as you have braid on the reel you can throw a frog on anything with a decent backbone. I've thrown them on med spinning outfits and mh casting, my buddy uses a cheap daiwa combo he got at Walmart for 25$ that's rated up to 3/4 oz.
  3. I dunno why but bass around here hit the killer gill more than any other color for me.
  4. I throw a Texas rig 80% of the time just because weeds around here can get out of control. Frogs another 15%, and everything else makes up the last 5%
  5. X2. I like the orra better than the president, but other than that I mostly get pflueger
  6. Maine I think your smallest bass would eat my biggest bass for breakfast. Awesome fish.
  7. I've been using 6lb seaguar senshi mono on my ml spinning rod and I'm pretty pleased with it. Thinking about switching it to 8lb tatsu to give that a shot tho
  8. Got a couple small bass and a crappie of a drop shot this morning at spy pond in Arlington
  9. Thanks for the link, I'll give that a shot
  10. I have a wilderness ride 115. I'm not sure if I should rig it through a scupper over the side or through the hull
  11. It's all up to you, if you like it and enjoy fishing with it then I'd say it's money well spent. Most of the combos I fish with average 400$, and I just dropped a good chunk of change on a kayak. Meanwhile I'm driving around in a 98 corolla that's probably worth 1k if I'm lucky.
  12. Any mh or h depending on brand, st croix a mh has comparable ratings to other company's heavy. Have braid on it. To answer the op you do need slack line like already stated. And when walking a bait it doesn't need to be an exaggerated movement. I just flick my wrist.
  13. Anyone use a shoot through the hull transducer in their kayak. I'm thinking of picking up a lowrance elite 4x.
  14. I'm thinking about taking my kayak out to stump on Sunday. Anyone else wanna join
  15. No. I have 12lb suffix siege and I don't hear a thing
  16. Mono I take off my reels when the water ices over, and spool them back up when spring comes around Braid I leave on until I get into my backing on my cast, then I'll refill my braid.
  17. I second the 6'8" mxf avid with the spinning reel of your choice
  18. For 160 I would get the tatula. I've used shimano, abu, lews and daiwa and that tatula wins hands down for me.
  19. That's a great spot, how bad are the weeds there now i know it can get pretty bad there
  20. Spinning or casting? Either way I would get the medium veritas
  21. Picked up a WS ride 115 today and I absolutely love it. Got it out and the water and got a pickerel. You know you're a fisherman when your kayak is worth more than your car
  22. Ya he was a real angry little guy, wouldn't quit fighting esp when I was trying to take the hook out
  23. I've heard that we're starting to get schoolies up here, but I haven't been out for striper in a few weeks
  24. The guy never got back to me, however a tackle shop near me is having a big kayak event on Saturday so I'm gonna go check it out
