  1. Nice fish.. heres an 18.25" I hooked in the afternoon.. now time to swing for the fences..
  2. Second pic of the 17.25" since it got cutoff
  3. And this ones good for 17.25"
  4. Dang it I had a good morning the bite wouldnt stop and yet I come here and see Maine w/several 20"+ fish posted.. oh well I still had a great morning Heres one of the bigger ones a 19.25" This is obviously a homerun hitting contest..and I'm hitting triples off the wall and doubles..but still havin fun
  5. I feel fortunate to be fishing my waters which arent fed from dumps from industries and factories upstream like the Susquehana.. lord knows what those companies dump into it and I am surprise it took so long for those chemicals to affect the fish Too bad the Susquehana used to be a great place for smallies Folks our quality of life is slowly drowning in the toxic excrement of our high-standard of modern life living.. how much longer can this last? There are islands of plastic trash floating about in our oceans and they arent even that difficult to spot when yer out there.
  6. you could really make a topwater cigar scare the heck out of everything in the lake if you really wanted to
  7. In the rain, I feel I no longer need to move like a prowler
  8. I wouldnt be worried about visibility fishing weeds so Id not use fluoro over braid for weeds.. go braid
  9. Yea theres a time and place for both.. different for different people but I love bladed jigs too but I dont throw those if theyre not called for
  10. Mine were also caught in less than 2 ft of water yesterday.. the gals have spawned and now theyre a bit tougher to find. Havent caught a 20"+ since May.
  11. Even KVD knows when to put away his spinnerbait and tie on somethin else.. but.. Spinnerbaits flat out catch fish.. caught several this morning on spinnerbaits for this July contest when topwater didnt interest.. they hammered my spinnerbait. Spinnerbaits aint just for spring and fall.. The big gal crushed it so hard it snapped in two.. good thing the half which remained had the line.. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/140724-who-wants-in-july/ Start with a smaller 1/4oz single willow nothin else with natural bluegill colors and work it til you have confidence to branch out into others and bigger spinnerbaits
  12. When I look at the forecast and see a front comin in, I know I'm gonna catch somethin big.. esp during and post frontal
  13. 17" bad boy Had an absolutely awesome post frontal day's morning.. landed over 10 fish and could have kept it going had the missus not called.. pooper
  14. Ill start it off then.. this 19.5" gal left my spinnerbait dangling.. absolutely crushed it and snapped it in 2
  15. Thats a big fish so I'm sure just that one made yer day.. am I wrong?
  16. The only post frontal I avoid is massive cold fronts during fall transition to winter Dont worry about summer fronts and you should feel lucky to be fishin anytime you have the chance I myself feel you can catch fish under any condition some more challengin than others sure You just need to adapt The fish may not be as aggressive after thunderstorm fronts but they cant hold out for long cause they are hungry.. adjust
  17. heavy stained.. slow roll
  18. Fishchaser1 hope u got out during the morning mini-rain (no lightning) Spent a good hr fishin a local lake before work today and picked up several fish nothing big.. biggest a 16" 3 lb during the rain. Rain is good
  19. Since theres no hardgills (fullsize nor baby) to be had, got one of his softgills on the tw july 4th sale.. lookin forward to tryin it out..
  20. I dont think fish are on a diet in the summer. I'd fish if the time were available today. I'd fish during the storm tomorro as long as theres no lightning I'd fish anytime my wife or work lets me cause the fish are hungry pre, during, and post frontal in the summer imo are all good
  21. Matt, if yer readin this.. make more $$$ please (on hardgills)
  22. yea its possible just like its possible to use a pair of pliers to loosen a nut but its likely not going to give you the best rod for a wider range of lures you could present and adjust to conditions yer gonna be stuck with what that rod can do best sometimes that can be fine.. other times you will wish you brought so and so other rod as well so you could throw so and so other lures I have a wide range of lures and weights from 1/4oz on up to 2oz.. there is no way one rod can do it if I bring them all.. and without them all ya may go home skunked cause u couldnt adjust Alots said about locating fish as being most important (and theyll bite anything if you find em.. ya right).. sure it is important tossing lures into an empty bucket isnt gonna catch u any fish but many times I seen other fishermen say theres no fish in there and I go over the same spot with a different lure or presentation and nail quality Gotta have yer tools with ya
  23. Depends on the fish, if its light enuf sure.. if its not, Ill use the rod to keep tight lines on the fish even if it cant be hoisted. I watch my rod and use it as much as it can to get it close before grabbing the line then working with the fish. No more hooks completely thru my thumb for me..
  24. I prefer to judge a fish by its length.. I think anything in the over 18"+ range is a big fish You could fit yer fist easily in their mouths.. thats big
