  1. Hey, he is a "North American Fishing CLub Life Member" you better watch it! I heard mention that he used pictures of me on his site too, is that true? Anyone know?
  2. Don't bite the pillow.... Couldn't resist, I'm sure I will pay for that! ;D
  3. I think that is a great point. I have friends who have served time in prison that are some of the nicest, most generous people I know. Should "they ^" be allowed to be police officers if they want to? YES! But to make a broad stroke decision to make felons in general police officers is a bad idea. Money laundering, extortion, racketeering, drug dealing, fraud. These are all non-violent crimes and would make for bad traits in an officer of the law IMO. I have honestly met more good officers than bad, even if the nature of our meeting wasn't very good for me . I start every interaction with a police officer with respect, honesty and humor. They almost always seem surprised! Maybe it is because everyone treats them as if they are a d---heads right off the bat, that they usually respond in kind to that treatment. At the risk of a horrible cliche, the Golden Rule, is... well..., golden! I have only had one ticket in my life and a disorderly conduct charge that stuck. I have been pulled over or somehow "interacted" with the law no fewer than 25 times. If you are wrong, be respectful and honest, take your licks if you get them, and don't be a D!C%! I am impressed that this thread has maintained such levity!
  4. Or, if you are fishing from the bank and cast parallel to the shore, you can "walk it off" for a pretty close estimate. Also, if you want to be "scientific" you can count the number of crank turns during retrieve and work the math. IPC (inches per crank) or sometimes referred as IPT (inches per turn) are specific to each reel. (Technically, this is an average as the EXACT retrieve varies slightly. The specifications are for a "full spool"). From a practical standpoint, an "average" cast is 25-30 yards. Twice that (50-60 yards) is probably as far or further than anyone actually casts for fishing. 8-) I used the IPT to figure my longest cast as well. There are a few situations for me that an absolute monster cast is pretty much a must. In one lake in particular, I have never been bit within about 100 feet of the boat on a swimbait. The place is GIN clear and I guess boats just make the big girls a little nervous there. I do agree that a quality rod, weight and aerodynamics of lure, and line are all as important as the reel.
  5. HEELS! HEELS! HEELS This is one of the few occasions where my " Who Cares" post does not apply. College basketball is awesome, but the Blue Devils and the Tarheels is a rivalry for all the ages!

Netbait Paca Chunk Sr. is all I use. But any "action" type trailer would be good I think.

Depends on which are better apples or oranges. I don't crank much, but if conditions were leaning towards a reaction bite I would crash those rocks with a crankbait moving pretty quick. If there was more of a deliberate feeding bite I would be inclined to throw the jig. Of course one of my favorite reaction baits is a 1oz jig. Pop it way off the bottom and they whack it on the fall. One of my favorite night bites. Gotta keep your braided line semi taut for this one though, I don't use black lights!
  8. I've gotta make my $273.60 worth of hooks back somehow ;D
  9. No the ones for feathered hooks are called Saddle Hackle and they come from a chicken. You can get them on ebay, staminainc.com, or anywhere that sells fly tying supplies. I recomend getting "Strung Saddle Hackle" as opposed to loose saddle hackle. THe strung ones are more consistent and not as messy as the loose ones.
  10. Yeah I got them directly from Owner. Tank, I'm not changing them out, these are going on new baits!
  11. NO joke! Thats gnarly! Glad to hear that you guys are ok!
  12. I can get 265 feet out of my Calcutta 400 TE and a hand built 5 ounce bait casting downwind with 20mph or so at my back. So I would say that my best distance would be with a Calcutta 400 TE. Try throwing a weightless senko on one of those
  13. Yeah it is the same trinity of hooks symbol as the 6" is right now, except it was alot more cleverly hidden, this one is obvious. Those 6" baits WILL be winning tournaments across the country this year, mark my words!
  14. When Ken first put his little shad baits up for sale, he actually hid the link very cleverly and told only the people that were on his newsletter. I saw no fewer than 10 auctions for that link and every one of them went for more than $10. It takes all kinds. Personally, I have had my 6" hudds for about a month ;D
  15. I understand the intent of this post. It was not what people have made it into. One word describes what I think flech's intent was and anyone who has been around here for a couple of years will remember: GAMEOVER I think that there is a GO apprentice running around the board these days too.
  16. 60 packs of 1/0, 2/0, and 3/0 Owner Stingers. O U C H!
  17. Bmadd, I would be happy to. dsaavedra: I have returned all PM's so I think that I will go with these baits now and if all goes well and I get a hankering, I'll put up another offer. Sorry everyone who was late to the party this time Guys who are sending baits: Please remove all hooks and split rings. It would save me a TON of time! THANK YOU
  18. Nice bro! At least someones on some fish! I'm sure not on any!
  19. I will paint whatever! ripbaits, rattle traps, cranks, poppers, spooks, whatever! I'm most interested in getting more practice painting. A multitude of small baits will acutally be better than a few big baits. I am running out of my own stuff to repaint, LOL!
  20. CONGRATS SteveP! yeah and you too, old fart! I'm jealous now, but NorCal is about to start poppin!
  21. I have been on a lure building kick for awhile now. If anyone has any beat up baits that they would like painted I would like to do it. I don't want to make any money off of anyone. What would be the coolest for me would be for me to keep 1/3 of the baits that I paint. You guys can decide what colors you want, send them to me, I'll paint and clear coat all of them, keep one of every 3 and pay to ship them back. I would like to keep this limited to established members (200+ posts). If anyone is interested let me know. MODS: I didn't know where to put this if it goes into takclemaking, the only people that would see it are the people that could paint their own, LOL. I fully intend to lose money doing it, so I hope it doesn't cross any "advertisement" lines. If it does, delete away and no hard feelings from me.
  22. Happy birthday shiz mouth! No , LBH, you ARE Frodo, it is inescapable
  23. with love of course, LOL
  24. I prefer the 7'6" series from Okuma but I have never thrown the MH. Yes the 7'6" will be a stiffer rod than the 7'11", they are across the other models at least. At any rate, I can put 5 8ft swimbait rods with all my gear and a passenger in my girlfriends CRX so no matter what car you drive, there is a way to get it in there, LOL. I think that you would be happy with either rod.
