Different slang names for big bass :-)
pig, toad, donkey, gorilla, fatty, giant, i like the term basketball instead of football for those obese prespawn fish. but my favorite, which i have only deemed necessary to use on a fish that I did not land: Leviathan

injurys
I recently had my left finger nearly amputated by a boat/jack incident, but that was at home not the lake. Have hooked myself pretty bad (more than one hook past the barb at the same time) 3 times. My left shoulder has some sort of rotator cuff problem that never goes away, presumably from hucking big baits as hard as I can all the time. By far the most painful one was about six months ago. I was night fishing with a 1oz jig. I casted, heard a splash, and I swear i felt a bite. I swung as hard as I could, but there was no resistance, i think the jig must have been sitting in an inch of water. It flew back sooooo freaking fast and hit me square in the kneecap. It hurt so bad, I swear I almost passed out. I now believe that the kneecap really is the most painful place to be shot. God that hurt!

Don't use braid. <----- That is a period ;D

Ate my first guinea fowl
I'm with fluke. pheasant, dove, chuckar, quail, and especially grouse are great tasting. I also like canadian goose, it is at my upper limit on the gamey fowl-o-meter. Duck is pretty rough and I can only eat it if made by a couple of my hardcore duck hunter buddies that know how to prepare it. Sandhill Crane isn't too bad either and it is pretty cool when you drop one going 50mph, 150 feet in the air. But shooting 3.5" 10 ga shells in a single shot break action is pretty punishing. This is the next bird hunt I have on my radar. Pretty intense stuff. Himalayan Snowcock

My Solemn Oath
publically is not a typo. It most certainly isn't a great demonstration of your mastery of the "American" language either. But while we are on the subject people, ... <------- that is called an ellipsis, please use it with thrift. when there are 75 periods in a 50 word response, THAT IS ANNOYING!

My Solemn Oath
he also misspelled "publicly" as per the first two replies to this thread.

Flood disaster in NW
Just got ahold of my little brother. He lives on a big hill so apart from some wind he is doing fine. My mom won't be back for another couple weeks but their house is pretty far up on the island too. SCARY! We could sure use some of that water down here though.

Flood disaster in NW

Is this wrong?
Generally speaking, I flat out lie. Unless I actually am doing bad then I just say so. I never lie to make myself look better, only worse. I mean most of the time you can tell if the people are just looking for handouts or want to brag. I can't count how many times I have had somebody roll up and ask me how I am doing, just so they can tell me all about their 7lber on a senko. That was their intention the whole time, it wasn't really to see how I was doing, they just wanted to brag. My favorite one was: I was pulled up to the ramp loading up at the end of the day. There was only 1 other boat on the water and as soon as we headed to the ramp, they followed us over. Then they pulled four fish out of their livewell, all between 3 or 4 pounds, and made a big show of their nice sack of fish. They were the type of guys in their nice bassboat that saw me in my old aluminum and thought they would show me what awesome sticks they were. So after their big show of fish that they livewelled during the spawn >. I just took the boat out and left. I didn't have the heart to tell them that I had put a 10lber and a 7lber in the boat Watch out for the guys in the 1980's trout boat, they might know a little bit about bass fishing

Setting the hook using swimbaits
The moment I get bit I swing as hard and fast as I can to the side. Keep your rod tip pointed directly at the bait and keep the slack out of your line. Cross her eyes.

That CASCABEL looks pretty sweet!

Well if you haven't fished that relatively obscure japanese bait then no one has, LOL.

I must have missed it too, to be honest. I just get a little tired of the soap boxing sometimes.

Why we should all carry.
I know! When I first started reading that I was like "HOLY $#!^!" I thought it happened to you! Horrible situation no doubt but it looks like two innocent lives were saved at least.

My Solemn Oath
"publically" ? perhaps PUBLICLY is the word we are looking for.

[EDIT: a little harsh] "please to it on your board" now there is some irony for you .

Fishing heavy cover - braid vs. heavy mono
I fish braid, but for the record braid has very BAD abrasion resistance.

Beginner Swimbait Reel
These might help DAIWA OKUMA

Beginner Swimbait Reel
Sorry i was typing when you posted. BPS probably wont have the OKUMA but I promise you that you will like much more than you would the heartland. On Matt's baits I would go with 20lb maxima or Pline CXX or Trilene Big Game. Something that is way overtest with real good abrasion resistance. restring often, retie often. I use 25lb on the matts when sightfishing though.
