  1. No problem. I do not own a REVO but have heard all the praises. Even if the durability is up to snuff, which it might really be, line capacity definitely is not! At least not with 25 or 30lb CXX. As everyone probably knows the lakes out here drop a TON in the summer and fall, some of which are over 80feet down right now. One lake I go to that is normally just a loose shale kind of bottom is so low that it has revealed all the trees that I never knew were there. like LOTS of them, it looks like I am fishing at lake fork. The problem is not only the trees but the fact that they have 30 years worth of broken off trout trolling rigs crisscrossing them like an entire grove of decorated christmas trees. It was so bad that I have lost 5 huddlestons, a mission fish, and a stocker trout there.( THats $220 worth of baits in three trips) And those are just the ones that I couldn't get back with my knocker which I literally used 30+ times a trip. But my point is that after knocking the bait or pulling them through the trees and old line, my line would be horribly abraded for 5 -15 feet. On two seperate occasions I had to cut and retie to often that by the middle of the afternoon, i had cut off so much line that my Calcutta 400 didn't have enough line to cast anymore. Now with a REVO I would have had to completely respool like four or five times just to keep enough line on the spool. I don't even reccomend a 300 size reel unless you are using 17 or 20lb. with 25 or 30, there just isn't enough line on the reel. WIth a decent tail wind I can cast a huddleston about 250 feet, or one of the baits that I build WELL over 100 yards. Also the actual winching power of a reel is important when fishing these things. The cardiff is like a 5.8:1 and the Calcutta 400 is a 5.0:1. That is why I use the oversize handle on my cardiffs, just to get a little more leverage. I want that fish in the net as quick as possible, I have hooked 2 fish that I couldn't even turn the handle on and a couple of my buddies have had fish over fifteen lock their reels for them too. I want that to happen as seldom as possible. I would just hate to see somebody on here try and get into the swimbait game and buy a reel that immediately handicaps them. Sorry for the hijack but I do reccomend that you get the cardiff 300A and spend the extra 15 bucks to put the handle off of a calcutta 400B on it. It makes for a sweet reel. I use it on my 20lb rig for wake jr's and the six inch soft baits.
  2. LOL KU! I wasn't seriously playing the California snob role. I'm from Southern Colorado the real BFE. LOL @ the "Like oh my God, he has shoes on, looks fairly normal, talks normal etc etc etc"
  3. I alerted this board to that sale last year when it first started. All told between me and three of my buddies we ordered over 2,000 jigs . They are just down to the dregs of their inventory now, but when they started the sale they had TONS of colors and sizes available because they decided to stop making jigs. @ 17cents a piece for most of them, I consider them throwaway jigs. Good quality anyway, but i much prefer a football so I use the D&M's. I still have about 300 jigs in 1/4 oz brown/orange and brown/red and a couple hundred assorted other colors/sizes/styles.
  4. Cardiff has much higher line capacity. Cardiff has a lower gear ratio. My Cardiffs get a larger handle and knobs. The Curado 300 is the only LP that I have heard of surviving very long with big baits. Drag is irrelevant because I don't use it. I would rather have a Calcutta B or TE anyway, but he said inexpensive reel. I don't know why everyone tries to make LP reels into swimbait reels. They just aren't, get a real reel, lol.
  5. On the matter of tri hull staibility me/my family has owned three of them and they are pretty stable. more so than a comparable length deep v for sure. Two of my cousins and my aunt were all wheelchair bound and I spent alot of time caring for them. I would suggest that you DO secure the chair to the boat, but leave the seatbelt that is part of the chair off, and put a PFD on them. that way in case the worst should happen, they separate from the chair and can float. And the rest of the time they are in their chair. in my experience when my family were out of their chairs they were much more uncomfortable ( mentally). Obviously it might be unnerving for some people to get on a little boat, at least they will still have the "security blanket" of their chair. My cousins had Muscular Dystrophy and my aunt had Multiple Sclerosis which means that with both diseases they are completely weakened. Like can't lift their arms kind of weak. But we had my cousins out on our pontoon boat a couple of times and they loved it, despite being almost completely agoraphobic. Take the whole process slow and try to make them feel as comfortable and safe as possible. Its a great thing you are doing! P.S. Are you involved with " Fill the Boot"? My dad was a fireman and I volunteered for that for 5 or 6 years before moving out here.
  6. Just a clarification. The shad (will be released soon) has an internal head/hook. The minnow comes unrigged. The bone head that started this thread was referring to the minnow, but called them shad
  7. When I order my jigs, it is usually 20 or 30 at a time. they are banded. when they show up i sit down in front of the tv with some 65lb braid, superglue, and some fingernail clippers. wrap the braid around the skirt 3 or 4 times just ahead of the band tie two overhand knots drop of superglue clip the band clip the tags

I would pay $150 for an American swimbait before I would pay $40 for a chinese OR japanese one.
  9. Did you have to leave the state to catch that or did a new IMAX open up in the corn field, LOL! I only got to see one show at an imax, and it was back in the day. about whales or something, i don;t remember. but angelina jolie 15 foot tall and in 3D? kleenex please.
  10. Get the cardiff 300A. PLEASE let me talk you out of the daiwa rod. I have heard nothing but bad things about them from swimbaiters. I have not owned one because of that. I know that money is an issue but look into the okuma guide select 7'6" and 7'11" MH swimbait rods. Even though I have 6 or 7 big bait rigs now I still use my Okuma XH all the time, and it was my first SB rod. THESE RODS are also inexpensive, and very new to the scene. Have not fished one but i hear a few good things, and they are designed by one hell of a good swimbait stick.

EASY KILLER! No need for the "as seen on TV" hookset with braid. but then again i did blow one up with braid this year too, but you could have fit your fish in her mouth... sideways. LOL. Hopefully they will take care of you and not give me the same schpeal ( <----how do you spell that word? ) that lamiglas did. " We can sell you one at our "guide" price" f'ers.

I fish a couple different home made versions of the large walking baits. One is 7.5" without the tail and the other is 10" without the tail. If you get a lunker punker be ready for a Chinese built bait that is not durable and will cost $60. They undeniably whack big fish though. I couldn't even guess how many 10+s i have heard of being caught on that bait this year. I have heard no promising reports of the mag spook. IMO the best big bait to start out with would be a 7-9 inch wakebait.
  13. Rolo, seriously, where do you store all of this information? WOW
  14. I haven't bought a jig from anywhere besides D&M Customs for the last year. I fish mostly football heads and their's with an ultra sharp gammie is $1.99. Their flipping jigs are only 2.50 and are plenty sweet too. Also the only buzzbaits and spinnerbaits I use anymore.

  17. I love it! I think i might hijack it for awhile
  18. Its easy to get all up in arms guys, but lets try to remember that some village somewhere is desperately trying to find their idiot.
  19. Or maybe just one of them. Seriously what is the deal with that bass109 character?
  20. I believe that there is a federal law mandating that all artifacts be left completely undisturbed. It may only be a state law, in which case I know that in CO, CA, and WY it is illegal to touch or move any Native American relics. I do have a few things including a mono and matate, a large stone hammer head, and a dozen complete arrowheads that I picked up when i was younger. I do encourage you to look into the legalities though!
  21. I would start here. http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/dropshot_fish.html you may want to bump up the amount of weight you use for fishing in current
  22. Maybe they thought you were Pablo Escobar ;D
  23. You cant help but notice a beautiful woman, sometimes you can't even help but stare. There is most certainly a line though. I enjoy busting guys looking at my girl, cause she goes home with me and they go home lonely. But if I hear a lewd/ disrespectful comment, the gloves come off. The last time it happened to me was at the lake of all places. Couple of drunks. I will not even hint at what was said, but it had me shaking mad. Unfortunately they came to the ramp at the end of the day at the same time I did. It was not pretty, I got my point across and he got a bloody/possibly broken nose. I felt righteous at the time. But it was not a smart thing to do. THat was six months ago, and hopefully it won't happen again. If they were just looking, even leering, you did the right thing, especially if your judgment was at all hindered.
  24. I have spent my entire life going to wildlife art shows, and have met/ know almost all of the top names in the business, but when I saw Advanced Taxidermy's work in person, I was absolutely blown away. Hands down the most beautiful and vivid replicas/mounts (they don't do skin) that I have ever seen. They are not cheap, but if you can swing their prices, I don't think you could get a better replica. picture STILL does not do them justice! seriously! Should mention, that these guys are not friends, nor do I have any affiliation with them whatsoever. Their work is just so beautiful!
  25. I think his show would be much more realistic if he was wearing fish net thigh highs, hot pants and big clear plastic platform shoes. Doesn't make for much of a visual, but he sure is a wh*re!
