Crank Help?!
I use Loomis CBR in both 3 & 4 power, 7' length. They are graphite blended rods, pre-shimano.. I can feel a fish look at the baits from 50 meters.. Yozuri line.. That St. Croix is more like a heavy ( rigid ) than a Medium Heavy.. They are great rods, perhaps not the "best" choice for crankbaits

Easiest Black Bass Specie To Catch??
Honestly, I'd rather invert the question, FLMB, without a doubt to me are the toughest to catch typically. IMO, anything other than that species is bound to be easier..

Has Moss / Aquatic Vegetation Gotten Worse Over Your Lifetime?
Josh, there are many more food sources available in plant life than in dead wood, hence why the fish are in the vegetation.. Lots of life in the "weeds" plankton, insects, grass shrimp draw bluegills, bluegills can draw LMB. Bass also feed on insects, grass shrimp etc.. Wood is decaying and has little value in the grand scheme of things, 99 out of 100 times I will fish the salad over dead water logged wood.. Vegetation offers much, higher O2 levels, hiding, ambush points, life cycles begin & end here for many life types.. If a lake is void of vegetation, Rocks first, followed by wood.. If no vegetation, rocks, or wood, go to the shooting range instead of fishing, lol

Bad Experience For First Tournament.
I believe this is pretty spot on & short, sweet and to the point.. Personally, I would love to have him try & pull that on a full grown man.. ( myself ) Your a young man, you will learn..

Making The Switch Back From Fluoro To Mono..
Cheaper & tougher than Redlabel.. There's several venders on the bay, TW, and others where you can sometimes get exceptional buys. http://yo-zuri.com/Products/Yo-Zuri_Fishing_Line/details/Yo-Zuri_Hybrid.html

Making The Switch Back From Fluoro To Mono..
Of course you can switch back. Do you not line watch at all? See where I'm going here... Yozuri is a tough as nails line, CXX Is too, CX is a softer blend & comes in clear/blue, soo, guess what, I give you a full day on the water, and the transition is over.. I can feel just fine with those lines and a very good rod..

Missing Out On Something Sticking With Plastics Only?
Could be, I went thru a bit of a funk in about 96 on plastics, began cranking heavily for a few years, now I'm back on the plastics... Whatever the bait, it has to be enjoyable for me..

Top Water Rod..

What Type Of Line Should I Use For Backing
Yup, just a filler..^^

St. Croix Avid Vs. Rage
They can on the right blank, smaller sizes equates to a potentially lighter tip, more of a balance thing.. Not sure on the "X" rod, don't own it... Other than "weight" I don't think they are a advantage.. But it's not a deal breaker for me either way..( depending on who makes the guides Kigan appears to be a decent guide maker, maybe someone else can/will shed more on them. About the diff in warranty length, I have no clue, except it's the new trend in many rod co.'s policy to adjust terms of warranty..also, you can call & talk with St.croix.. They are very friendly folks & I'm sure would be helpful to you..

Missing Out On Something Sticking With Plastics Only?
Soft bait here.. But I sure enjoy a crankbait or topwater bite when it's the deal..

Do You Like Fluorocarbon Line?
Flourocarbon sink rates at feet per hour? Really? That might be a interesting side note, but it's useless info.. Everybody fishes with some weight tied to the line, as much as I'm not a fan of FC.. It works fine throwing unweighted trick worms rigged wacky.. The combo sinks, soo.. Not sure why this point matters. Bottom line, you got to get your own hands dirty to know positively one way or another on ANY line...

Weights You Can Attached To Hook Shank
BPS sells these lead weights to use on swimbait style hooks, sometimes I add a split shot to a wacky rigged hook if I need a bit of help.
