B.A.S.S. 2026 FFS decision?
Zona reported during the Lake St. Clair tournament that there was a known decline on the lake DUE to pings from FFS. Zona stated this while on air, live. He doesn’t work for BASS now either. The evidence might be anecdotal but oftentimes that’s all one needs. I wondered if this would become a problem.

That’s great information and I’m glad to know that. I should size these on my Tat out and order a set.. maybe this winter, by then I’m hopeful the tariff situation has become better understood.. Maybe not, appears those might be for ambassador bushing reels only.

Yes. Looks to be ceramic encased in a ptfe type of cage best I can tell, a complete tear down is the only other way for me to be certain. However, the reel is an amazing caster. I put on my Evergreen rod glass/carbon 7’3” with a 3/4 oz lead weight and a couple adjustments and 6 casts later I was making just shy of a 190 feet. The reel retrieve is excellent, audible line out drag click is useful. The reel could be used w cut bait etc with drag backed off. The same technology’s that are in the Zillion 1000 HD are in this reel. With the exception of the spool of course. It is also very comfortable to palm which surprised me. The fact Daiwa has found a way to put this spool in this frame size is rather shocking to me. I’m going to give a 1/2 ounce lead weight a try and just see. I’m sure it can do it. It’s a keeper for sure . The old models are marked down considerably, but I really wanted the gear set, audible drag out etc that I’m familiar with in the zillion .

I truly wish Edge rods could produce blanks at the rate and quality that GLoomis did, something aloof at Edge..

Flipping and punching rod
This ^^ Why? Because I absolutely love F&P tactics. I used a Heavy/fast rod during my 7 years in Jax, Florida. Flipping and pitching was a necessity on most all waters I fished while there. The hydrilla was so thick on Lochloosa you had to use a heavy.. the rod I used was an incredible rod, made by South Koreans and marketed by Lews. Its length was 6’6” Nowadays, I have a 905c F&P model. It’s a GLX and rated 20-25 test. It’s an extra heavy and imo, too much rod. But I ordered it on close out and got a better deal so it’s a keeper! 🤣😂🤣 Go with a length you’ll be comfortable with. State's are effective at killing vegetation, so the fact that heavy heavy weed growth isn’t so prevalent as it use to be. Close combat is fun!

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
I have a 735-1 MBR that’s spinning and it’s said it’s a MH but it’s incredibly stout.. definitely a heavy but I use it in the Gulf and on Cumberland lake when I go.. I have a 14 rods all made in Woodland, Washington. I’ve recently been buying rods from Talon who builds them on Brad Loomis’s blanks. Patriot is his blank company. They are quite nice. Heck they are all just blocks from each other 🤣Talon is most all ocean and river stuff but they’re building more bass type rods..

Back in about 87 or so, Ryobi had a nice, lightweight reel that several of my Navy buddies were buying, like $30 or so. I’d spent $80 on my Shimano baitcaster and I was already catching 5 to 8 pounders in the Osceola forest meanwhile these trick little Ryobi reels were breaking right and left. Now they were about a 50 size reel made out of graphite rather than aluminum. You could buy them on base, NAS Cecil Field. Some of these guys would break them and go buy another one and break it. I asked what was going on but nobody knew 😂so at work we took one apart and it was all plastic on the inside, plastic main gear , I think the pinion was plastic also.. I never seen such garbage in my life. I watched a guy destroy a zebco 33 in that forest. About 2-5 pound fish and they were toast. The amount of 5-10 pound fish in those little strip ponds was incredible and virtually no fishing pressure either. But if you were fishing a Ryobi or Zebco you were good for a couple big fish and that’s it. My Shimano lived for 15 years and I gave it to a teenager in the family who promptly pawned it..

Haha, I’d agree with that. Nice trout. What rod is that?

how do you pack for topwater fishing
Very true, very very true.

how do you pack for topwater fishing
I believe in this philosophy, Less is more.. using just a couple baits and learning those two baits pays off with success and that builds confidence which lasts a lifetime..

ML fast for spinning w 1/4 oz pop r’s MH fast for using Spro floating jerkbaits.. (shallow) I have exactly 1 whopper plopping bait for creek/small river use. That little bity black n white bird pattern. At times they crush that thing..

Had a new crankbait experience the other day.

New customs fees
Very true. I placed an order with Tackle warehouse 7 days ago, usually it ships from Georgia but I ordered a couple swim baits in the 3.5 oz weight range and they shipped out of Cali. Pkg made it to Illinois and was to be delivered Friday but it was lost and sent to Texas. I assume it will show next Wednesday or Thursday.. While it’s a nice gesture what Digitaki is doing it’s not going to help here when these carriers can't get the proper tariff charge assessed. It’s just a cluster #%^* right now..

If you were gifted a G.Loomis NRX+...
What do you mean by too tight? Like too rigid? Or just the length? I use 844c GLX and it’s sweet for sure but not the best at jig n pig work imo.

Thanks for reminding me of that comparison concerning the NRX+ vs the Talon, I keep thinking about that 7’11” rod you saw in the shop.. 🤣😂

Shimano Rods
Yea what sucks is those rods are already in stock so why is there a $50 increase? It’s not like they’re on a ship heading here now.. of course business does this with about everything anymore, fuel prices especially. Or in recent history egg prices.

Shimano Rods
Ouch. I’m afraid we will all be paying more going forward..

Best rod to throw a 1/2 oz bladed jig on?
I believe you, considering you asked about a floating fluorocarbon. 🤷 There is nothing inherently wrong with mono, do know that mono will absorb some water after being submerged for awhile. I have Big Game (a few thousand yards) and 50 pound Shakespeare mono that I tie short leaders for Gulf fishing and catfishing.. BTW, I’m using a Heavy/ moderate slow - glass/carbon rod by Evergreen. 7’3” Before that I was using a Heavy moderate/fast Loomis IMX crank bait rod. 7’
