  1. Nice Catch!! Is that a Shimano reel? Rinse it off and some oil and BINGO!
  2. 10-4 on feeling drag pay thru rod. I like the drag click but I won’t limit myself on that extra feature. On the Coastal 200 I’ll be using it w live or cut bait.. it’s not as loud as the HD1000’s Go figure. I really like what you’ve done to Ryoga. It’s a beast.. BTW, I love those handles. The one on my Bantam XG is awesome, they’re so deceiving, they look huge on the reel just looking at them, then you get it in the ready position and it’s just perfect. They're impossible to get in the states also, which sucks. eBay is stupid high. Still, I’m in the market for two more. At least..
  3. Nice! Did you do one w stainless gears? Maybe I saw that as an option. The Magseal bearings, are those odd sizing or common bearing sizes? I love that reel. Prices wildly fluctuate on them too. That a 1016??
  4. There’s that Ryoga that’s built to the hilt.. I'm gonna look for one sometime in winter, gonna give carriers more time to catch up and get into a groove.

@Mike L I’m wondering is the lake level still really high thus preventing sunlight penetration, which in turn slows hydrilla growth. Or is it spraying alone killing off the hydrilla?
  6. @WaskaCrank12 that’s awesome, it was a solid buy especially in today’s economy. Glad you’re enjoying it.
  7. I keep mine bagged up, all plastics. I take what I need for the trip and nothing more. Easy peasy..
  8. Thursday guys, reliving the 80’s all day long. Long live the 80’s 😁
  9. Nothing wrong with offering a helping hand, but I’m not trying to tell anyone what they should or shouldn’t do unless it’s one of my grown kids lol. I have boundaries and hopefully nobody crosses them. (No shortage of rude, obnoxious behavior)
  10. I like a very full skirt, reason why is I can trim the length, make finesse jigs and reduce the bulk to around a dozen strands. Most Jigs at BPS are terrible truthfully except for Denny Brauers structure jig, I love that jig and with an owner hook I don’t miss many at all. Gary’s Jig (old stock) are made with Gamakatsu. There sharp no doubt but they dull pretty quick. No problem w a file unless you seriously roll a point. Owners on Jigs are my favorite. Mustad ultrapoints are solid. All my chatterbaits use those. They do hold their point better I believe. Imo..
  11. Well I ordered 2X3 packs so they sent me a box with 24 🤷🤪 about time I got lucky lol
  12. Beautiful pictures bulldog, what great fun that must have been..
  13. My first Loomis rod from about 1993 was a GL3 7’ MBR, Moderate Fast and it was perfect for Jigs at 1/2 and did Texas rig powerbait 7” worms w 1/4oz weight. It also threw Magnum Senkos well. It proved to be a perfect jig rod. I'm not suggesting the ABU TE is that rod but it’s pretty decent at the price point. I will use it pitching 1/4-3/8 jigs & 3/16 w tubes t-rigged. I believe after using it that 1/2 is its wheelhouse. I can’t imagine throwing 1 oz. @RichF
  14. Glad you’re healing and back to fishing, that’s great, great news.
  15. Sounds good and bad, but lucky you, having a store close by. Sucks the guides weren’t right
  16. A mistake of youth, it’s unfortunate folks lost their lives.. no redo here.
  17. Definitely a good dragging rod. Should be able to throw casting jigs, Texas rig plastic. Bet it pitches good. My kind of rod.
  18. Ok all you guys who bought the ABU rods.. What ya think? I’m rocking the 6’10” Kinda interested in that spinning model, what ya say about it and that reel seat?
  19. I just bought 2 dozen of Gary Dobyns Football jigs, living rubber w silicone. Most all of my casting or flipping jigs are silicone.
  20. You’re in the right institution er place. We will help you recover..😁 Welcome to BassResource.
  21. Yes I own it. The philosophy is the same for a bladed jig as for a crankbait. Fish eat the bait deeper due to tip design parameters. Gets into the power very quickly which afford all the power needed for a hard hook set Other rods will work also. It’s finding that one that satisfies the insatiable desire that we clearly all share on rods and reels, which incidentally manufacturers love. I’ll add one last thought, most of us are ordering via web orders and that makes it really hard to be right the first time.
  22. Don’t know what State you’re in but it could be illegal to transfer the shiners to any lake, pond or river UNLESS, your using them where you caught them. Check your regulations. Example: You caught your baitfish on Kentucky lake, those are legal to use on Kentucky lake. You caught your baitfish on Kentucky lake but you want to fish no name lake an hour north of Kentucky lake, that would be illegal. Know the regulations for your State.
  23. I owned the 7’ spinning model.. they are d**n fine rods but unfortunately I just couldn’t warm up to using it w spinning.. If it were casting, oh yea it would have been sweet. I use an Evergreen/Daiwa Glass/Carbon rod for all that work now.. plus an IMX 847
