Did Lew’s copy Daiwa’s braking system?
Looks over engineered to me. Clearly it’s a magnetic braking system but why don’t you buy one and run it thru some preliminary tests and post your findings here..

It’s got that old school fast action-action. 6’10” I’d say you could throw pretty much whatever you want, it’s rated to an ounce. I’m gonna put a Zillion on it and give it a work out today..there’s no doubt in my mind you could throw a 3/4 ounce rattletrap..

Dobyns rods was sold!
Well that’s a shame, I’ve never been a fan of those rods but I know they are wildly popular. Truthfully, I hate this for you all.. especially for the guys who are heavily vested in the rod brand.

Inexpensive Shallow Diving Squarebills?
Yozuri makes a great little square bill and I always have a box of those. Tackle Warehouse often slashes prices down to $5 often $3. Shimano & their MacBeth cranks are solid and are often marked down. At those prices anyone can afford to fish a crank bait in heavy cover. They are capable brands and you can be confident in the quality of..

Japan Tackle
I ordered some dress up parts and a spool from Jun a couple-three months ago and sent him an email asking him if he’d mind shipping my order FedEx and he replied with “absolutely no problem at all, I will send it FedEx “ and he did. I can post a screenshot of the email if it were needed.. JapanTackle

Siebert Outdoors Jig Advice Needed: What Should I Build for 2026
Yes. I’d add that ripping a heavy swim jig / trailer combo thru, right thru those heavy grass mats will absolutely elicit, massive strikes. I will do the same thing with a trap, although more along the tops of the grass. Works well. At least in my experience. Perhaps not the easiest tactics but it definitely will get bit.. Fishing isn’t always suppose to be chuck & wind is it..😉

Single Colorado spinnerbait setup
Gambler. They made them for years then stopped. 15 years later they’ve reintroduced them and you can get them from Tackle Warehouse today. I bought a couple in Bluegill last week

What high end item is worth the extra cost?
Not to press you too much but are you using it in light line or bigger diameter? How would you rate it as far as abrasion resistance?

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Last two reels have been bought from American tackle dealers. I’m not ready to deal with the tariff situation yet. Bought the spool about 3 months ago for another reel.

@Tackleholic what is it about this particular mono that you find superior above all others? TIA…

Bassmaster Kayak Series Angler Missing
I don’t care if he had a PFD on or not, I’m sorry he drowned.. folks make mistakes, unfortunately the learning curve here in this example is for us to see. RIP young man. It is a very important Life saving device.

The latest sale thread
Ok enough about those Tatula reels😁 Fished the ABU 6’10” MH/F tonight. I’m a bit shocked, rod has very good feel, casts well, pitches great and I’d say it has an OG style rating (fast) & was a crazy good deal. (3/8 Jig n trailer) next door neighbor farm pond.

Horse manure!
I picked up a few a couple weeks ago, I’m going to use them in wood myself. They’re made in the USA. I removed the skirt on some of them as well. I'm not sure who said the JH or EVO is weedless but that’s not happening..time to use a different bait as far as I’m concerned. How you like those?

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
The carbon grip has a micro coating which is much like the coating on my Studio Composite carbon knobs. My GLX rods have it on the graphite grip as well. My Evergreen/Daiwa super combat stick does not have it. This ABU rod has a counterbalance weight added. Rod was wrapped well and it looks to have Seaguides Titanium wire w zirconia. This is my first ABU rod ever.. I haven’t put a reel on it yet. The rod came very well packaged and was delivered well by FedEx. For $89, I can’t complain..

What a moron!
Seen this sort of thing before. Pulled my Skeeter down to the ramp on a Sunday morning and there was a truck/trailer w another bass boat out in the channel, floating. No one in it, no one anywhere. Drove back and notified state employee whom called IDNR. They found him hours later, he drowned attempting to swim out and retrieve his untied boat. He was in his 60’s. Happened in about 2000 or so. Sad and wholly preventable. I’m not preaching to you OP, but I’m talking to the hundreds of other viewers/readers who might read this in the next 5 years or so. Seek help to recover your rig.. it’s hardly worth drowning/heart attack etc..

When do you stop changing baits and just trust your system?
People don’t take the effort to find multiple schools of fish, mark them and go thru the schools and get them fired up and catch them. Every season of the year has a reason & a particular food source. Fish are eating, thinking about eating and oxygen consumers. What are they foraging on? Why is the forage base there? Bass are always going to be in fairly close proximity to the forage. I think the biggest mistake fishermen make is fishing the wrong locations and fishing too fast. Find schools, fish slowly and keep fishing that school slowly until you stick one and then for the next 20-30 minutes wear them out. Move to the next marked school/waypoint and do the same. Everybody likes an aggressive horizontal bite. But fishing jigs and a 7” plastic worm slowly are key tactics that have to be learned. Understand your electronics.. true understanding will yield a lifetime of success. LMB are schooling fish w larger bass typically living in smaller “wolf-packs” Now try that on busy reservoir systems where you are dealing with a 1,000 other boats.. most certainly requires patience & manners. Happy fishing..😁 They at least sound really cool. They can be effective for sure also 😁

How's Your 2025 Going?
Spring was plagued with rain, lots of repetitive flooding. No river, stream or creek fishing. Lakes were super high as well. Beaches in Indiana were all closed. Drought conditions are now and have been in place. Crushed the crappies and some 3-4 pound LMB but it’s going to be on fire any day now for big fish so I’m stoked and ready for the yearly fish feeding frenzy 😁

Roughing up soft plastics?
By abrading the bait and allowing salt to dissolve away from the bait it will allow the elaztec to float or slow the sink rate. Doing that has nothing to do with trying to appeal to a fishes sense of taste.. @Choporoz
