Payments to the United States to DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) [Correction and Resending] We would like to inform you that there was an error in the newsletter we sent a few days ago. We are resending the corrected version below. In our previous newsletter, we stated that “an additional 50% tariff applies to reels containing aluminum.” However, after further investigation, we have confirmed that the tariff rate actually varies depending on the aluminum content of the reel. Since most reels contain less than 20% aluminum, the applicable tariff rate is between 15% to 30%. We sincerely apologize for the confusion this may have caused our customers.

Tom Ashby passed on 31-December-2022.. after this, it’s been trending downwards and I don’t know why exactly. I’ve been there several times and still have several emails conversing with Mr. Ashby.

I stayed away from Daiwa after the OG Zillions disappeared. When it was clear Daiwa was going all in on the Twing I bought all Shimano. This year I’m back with Daiwa Zillions & 1 Coastal 200 Tatula. I like them quite well. If you don’t, just use Shimano.

@bulldog1935 Finger nail polish remover. There are still varieties of this made with acetone. I’ve used it before to clean bearings (once, 20 years ago) I used it a great deal working in a machine shop/plastic injection. I’d remove small to very large molds and change inserts for different specs. Acetone sucks all the moisture out of skin, turning hands, fingers white. It’s also a seemingly cold chemical. Not the same as is used in finger nail polish I’m thinking.. Opinion on using acetone via fingernail polish remover.

@woolleyfooley appreciate the “metals” information, and fishing equipment having its own category. The tariff rollout was helter skelter. It seems to be stabilizing now. (Easier to pay more 😁)

Thanks @Smirak I appreciate the sentiment but the email I posted is just an example order that AP sent me. I only posted it because a lot of folks are still confused on the additional tax being applied. @woolleyfooley as far as additional tax from shippers, I’ve read that information also, but several people are getting their orders with no additional tax. AP does suggest that an aluminum tax might be applied.

Quoted for its excellence & because truly there are a couple of people on BR that could do well to understand this. There is an old saying and it’s obvious to me and to others as well, Match the hatch. Fly fisherman most definitely believe in this theory, (it’s not a theory but truth) LMB know what a crawdad looks like, they know where to find them. Weird, my Stradic’s have been rained on, specifically my 3000 FD, not a problem at all. Some of the best bites I’ve been on happen during a misty/light rain. My Saragosa 5000,6000, & 8000 have seen moderate rain in the Gulf of America and they actually felt better than new. Stradic, Vanford, & Saragosa are more than solid. The Baitrunner Imo is garbage 🎃🤣 my advise is save for a bit and give one a try. Stradic, or gosa, you could do a lot worse for the money..

Twin prop topwaters are special. I have a special one that I retired in about 87.. As far as the Bomber Fat Free series, they're absolutely solid fish catchers. Buy & fish with confidence. Great value for the money.

@redmeansdistortion This is why I made the decision to unload my Shimano Metaniums & my Bantam reels save 1. After months of additional study on the 21 Zillion HD and Zillion USDM, and most all of my information that mattered most came from @bulldog1935. It’s easy to compare Shimano's gear set with Daiwa. A bunch of chatter about & even pics of Shimano gear sets and of course the noise issue & pics of broken main gear teeth (aluminum) I’m still not sure what shimano was thinking but for me, it no longer matters. I bought 5 zillions and 1 - 25 Daiwa 200 Coastal with Hyper everything technology. (All this year) Imo, the Coastal 200 is closer to a HD Zillion than a Tatula. As soon as Bulldog sells me his Monster Ryoga, I’ll be good to go. 😆 These Daiwa reels are very good thus far. Now if we can get them to re-engineer Daiwa USA , we’ll have it made. 😂

I’ve used clear/blue fluorescent line from the creeks/rivers/ponds/lakes of southern Indiana to central Florida to the Gulf of Mexico to Puerto Rico.. thousands of fish including an 11.2 on Lochloosa. A 1/3 of my rigs still have it. Use what you like and just fish. FYI: Denny Brauer used it all thru the 80’s & 90’s as an accomplished flip&pitch expert, if he thought it mattered, do you think he’d use it?

@Jig Man I like those Yamamoto twin-tails though I buy the 5” model. 20 in a bag is a killer deal on those also.

@Rockhopper what length rod are you using to do that work?

The Daiwa Tatula Coastal 200 (25) model is a better reel than the previous Coastal 200. There is a thread I started a couple months ago on it. I like the bigger knobs myself but that’s easy to upgrade.

That’s exactly when they work best, otherwise like I said it would be a shad/gizzard shad pattern. A general use, throw anytime is green pumpkin for me. The grommet skirt is garbage, I bought some weedless made in the USA (famous maker) with those. I needed the 3/4 oz size and the fact they’re USA made.. is the only reason I bought them. Gary Dobyns make a killer football jig with a lot of living rubber. The spotted bass series has a 4/0 ewg Gamakatsu and the other has the 5/0 Gammy you can find them cheap on Amazon
