Yep. I had the 300 tranx and sold it to a guy on here. Had a 500 also for offshore stuff, after a couple years I sold it to a musky fisherman local to me. It was a more solid reel, just a total beast.

I haven’t fished there in years. I use to catch plenty of good LMB out of there but when they killed the Lilly pads I quit going. Patoka is still 4’ over summer pool and the beach has been closed all summer due to high water. This spring was a doozy for lots of rain for sure.

I tend to agree with you. As far as the coastal 200, I’m guessing Magforce. BTW, what’s the deal w Diawa USA? There is alot of disdain for them from Daiwa users..

Daiwa's Magforce LC-Concept braking system - components Spool and Inductor: The spool is lightweight A7075 aluminum and features an inductor. This inductor is a cup-shaped or cylindrical piece, often made of metal, that spins with the spool shaft. Magforce Plate and Magnets: The braking system is housed in the palm-side plate of the reel. This creates a strong braking force, preventing backlash. End of the Cast (Low Spool Speed):Towards the end of the cast, when the spool speed is very low, the inductor might retract completely, eliminating braking and maximizing casting distance. As stated, my ordered reel should be here Monday according to UPS, Then I’ll see whether or not the spool is dynamic or fixed rotor. Many say it’s fixed but a AI search after every other search I performed revealed the above information on Daiwa’s LC spool designation. Also, I could not find a schematic for this new Coastal 200, I hope to get one with the reel Monday.

Absolutely, positively # 1 I wanted to fish BFL this year, I retired last and have a friend in Tennessee that I met in Paris, Ky. We talked and I thought it would be fun. At the same time the whole FFS debate was gonna be reviewed by Duckett and his people. Well MLF changed it sort of, but I’m not paying good coin to be in the backseat while the pilot zig zags all day.. it’s just nonsense to do it. I'm hopeful the sonar is gonna backfire on them & according to Zona and his information, he has stated Lake St. Clair is vastly different from years past.. FFS & the minnow jig has struggled this past year. If Zona says it about a lake he’s fished hundreds of times you can take it to the bank. Zona might act silly but the dude is a bad ass fishermen. So apparently the fish are getting wise to pings and minnow baits. I’m not surprised tbh..

No one trick ponies anymore but at that level, better have absolutely solid electronics and know how to use them.

I said I was going to try Tatsu, but when I saw the price! Soo I’m using Daiwa Samurai clear & Hidden Concept. Good stuff. I have a Zillion spooled up with Shooter and it’s pretty manageable. Honestly, it’s only slightly better than Yo-Zuri Hybrid and I’m so loaded with that line & as far as sensitivity, 100% FC is marginally better. I use to love Triple-Fish in Camo made in Germany and loved it but Portugal makes it or bought it. Perlon was good stuff for mono. Mark Menendez won on Pickwick using 8 pound and a Smithwick Rouge Jerkbait but it’s not the same now.

Kastmasters are phenomenal baits in the tropics, I’ve used them extensively in Puerto Rico. Love them.

You don’t need FFS to be able to find or catch LMB, the Golden shiners fear signature is the most powerful locater in the waterway. Wild shiners have that fear response and hybrid shiners don’t. Farm raised shiners are ok, they work, sometimes. But wild shiners are worth the effort to cast net for them or just pony up and pay the exorbitant prices they garner. I know a lot of crappie fishermen lean on it hard. I can see where that would be useful. BTW, best of times fishing with your nieces..

Duh Of course the little guy is gonna pay it. If a company incurred additional costs of any kind they raise prices to offset their increase. That doesn’t require a BS in anything, being on this earth for over 6 decades is all you need to know about basic economic principles. 😁 Despite Tariffs I’ve ordered a $300.00 reel this very day,(Tackle warehouse) you either suck it up or not. I don’t want to pay more & companies don’t want to pay more.

Either of you guys ever heard of a ceramic coated bushing? I’ve heard of brass and nylon but high compression ceramic doesn’t seem logical to me. Idk..

Anyone bought & or tried this out yet? I’m about to pull the trigger but there are a couple things that concerns me, they (Daiwa) are omitting ball bearings and using high compression bushings. The TW rep mentioned ceramic one time but I’m not sure if he’s correct. Surely this spool will have bearings. (Spool) Next thing is the Long Cast spool design, this reel will do Gulf and freshwater work. It will be a stand alone reel. No spool swaps etc. It holds alot of line which will be important to me. I'd appreciate opinions either for against.. It's the Icast release of this year so I’m sure there is little known, other than the Hyper everything updates 😂 Thank you.
