I've caught a fair amount of Bluegill in Florida myself, most of them had hues of purple & black, color variations occur by season and water types. I threw the bait on Kentucky for 1/2 a day, on the 7'11" rage as well. The rod did fine. But that bait is a monstrosity to me.. Not my cup of tea. Still no problem with the rod though. If I were sold on the 10 xd I believe Kistler markets a rod for that crank.
