I use light & sound emitting diode technology inserted into my plastic worms, this helps to notify the bass. Then with a uv dye that is applied it can see it really good, after this I soak it in some type of stink fluid so it has the odor of, either a crawfish, shad, or my fave, worm guts, doing all of these things during muddy water fishing adventures are bound to help you get to the Bass Masters Classic, and truth be told, nearly guarantees a Victory.

I use #12 on my penn 5500 salt reels.... But on anything else, never above a #8. Typical for me is #6, of course line diameter can de-rail those pound test numbers, so it may boil down to what manufactor your friend is using. As it applys to mono, copoly, FC or hybrid.. That's the line... Not anything you done. You will probably like the braid better anyhow... I use a soft CX or Silverthread or even # 6 hybrid line.. But I know you like braid, I say give it a whirl! Good luck!

I have one ***... The handle is the exact reason I wouldn't pay double for a ***.. Like you said... Very nice blank, very nice recoils... But not a great handle at all for all day use. Mine backs up my loomis rods.. Best of luck on deciding.

First off, what's your allocation for this reel? Secondly, high bearing counts don't equal good, great or supreme quality. For that rod, and length, a aluminum frame, as in a heavier reel will help with the balance point.. In other words, a Shimano Ci4+ @ $240 will not be a good choice, not on that rod... I'm not saying that rod is a bad rod, just heavier and somewhat unbalanced.. On the reel, it's really boils down to money first and foremost.. If you know, about what you want to spend, then more exact models could be given.

Absolutely, I used orvis 3 weight rod and reel, my target were Bluegill and Trout trips to Tennesee.. Very, very joyful.. Loved it... Highly recommend you give it a whirl.

A softer line.. 8 even 10 Pline CX not CXX, Silverthread is a soft easy to handle line and performs well. Been down that road before 10 years ago with # 10 yo on a 4000 diawa emblem, it's not the deal for spinning... Not to bad in # 4 or 6 but even at 8 it's a slinky off the spool.. Not sure about your winding issues, if it's new I would swap it out. I use a 35 and it doesn't wind like your pic..
