I can't say if you Really need it, but it's a awesome reel. That said, the Saros in 1000 or 2500 is quite good, I didn't like one thing about the 4000 Saros & that was just the reel stem flex.. It was just annoying to me, I don't recall ever hearing of one cracking or breaking.. But it's was always in my mind...that was the 4000 only... Ci4+ is soo sweet, that's my choice

I learned to do it years ago, before ii became vogue. I feather my line on the outcast.. Stopping my bait where I want the splash down.. At that point, my hand is in such a position as to easily, and blindly be able to close the bail, and tug my line slightly in the event of a loose coil or 2.. It was just something I learned on my own in the 80's.. It was just a learning progression for me and nothing else really.

I can say this, I love when that happens, just roll with it.

Have you tried you're reel on the proposed rod yet to see if it's a problem? Seems as though you are contemplating the rod, rather than owning it. My recommendation is the first sentance of my reply.. Only then will you know, if you cannot do that, I would consider a different rod.

Yea, I wanted to suggest that ( fill & drill ) but I have not done that to a reel, so naturally I was hesitant... Jb weld? Idk.. Frames are costly.

My opinion is the curado I is a better reel, it's a lot more ergonomic. Tatulas are the bargin for sure though.. Both reels are solid performers.. If you like you're tat, upgrade to a zillion. I don't think a curado is a upgrade, per se, but rather a change in engineering styles. Both company's make excellent products. I vote for shimano!
