Daiwa Zillion HD 1000 magz boost
Thanks again for the data, it really helps out with potential future decisions. Btw, it’s funny how casting on our property vs the water usually ends up with differing results.

Daiwa Zillion HD 1000 magz boost
I’ve been pondering the possibilities for sure.. there definitely seem to be a myriad of choices, more than I initially thought. I’m a big fan of MagZ going back to its introduction many years ago.

Winter 2024 / 2025 ~
Received 5” of rain yesterday thru about 4:30A , thunder for 3 hours @ approximately 1 minute intervals, with the thunder came the most unusual orange colored lightning. Ponds, creeks, rivers flooded roads here.. then, at 7A I get up and there is 2” of snow and ice coming down. Wind @ 35 gusting. My Male German Shepherd weighs 128, he’s a big boned boy but he absolutely hates thunder and his bark is incredibly loud. So yea, 3 hours of that. He acts like a war dog lol Totally strange weather event. BTW, still snowing like crazy. It’s supposed to make 45 today.

My Days on the Water May Be Over
You’re like the #1 gear junkie on here! I'm never on this section hardly. Dont you give up, and if you haven’t thus far get a second or even a third opinion. I worked in Healthcare for a decade and I’ve seen more than you can imagine. Miracles happen. Doctors are wrong many times. I’ve personally witnessed and been involved in seeing the impossible become possible and becoming many more years on the earth. Sometimes, miracles happen, I’ve seen it and most who have worked in healthcare have too. My condolences to you over your mother. ✝️✝️✝️ Peace.

Is it even worth it to throw big swimbait?
No. I don’t throw big swim baits. It’s just I prefer to use what I’ve already learned. T-rigs, rattletraps, crank baits, swim jigs and flipping jigs. Tubes, Pop r’s and you get the picture 🤣😂🤣🍻

Best Modern Low-Stretch Copolymer / Mono (Life After Defier Armilo)
I use Yozuri Hybrid on baitcasters. Spinning I love either Pline CX or CXX CX is a very forgiving line on spinning but around rocks you’ll have some trouble. I still have a couple thousand yards of Tripple Fish which is made out of Perlon. It is very good line, it was a German made line and was absolutely solid line, I think it’s made now in Portugal.

Baitcasting reel
Shimano Metanium shallow spool edition. It’s 100 size and it handles 6 pound line beautifully. I don’t use braid, so can’t say.. Prices are / have gone up in Japan but it’s still cheaper than buying here.

Wire tying on rubber banded jig skirts
Sure you can do that.. I never saw the need for it but there is nothing stopping you from it..employ your ideal. Tinkering is fun.

Daiwa steez real control rods
Apparently the Japanese swear by testing that metal transmits vibration better than other materials, which is why the reel seats always use an aluminum lock nut. My first GLoomis rod made in 94 had an aluminum lock nut also. Personally I don’t like them and I really don’t care what it’s made out of as long as it secures my reels.. Other users have stated better “feel” with say, Shimano Bantam reels vs the Metanium (Aluminum vs Magnesium) Dunno, just what I’ve read lately..

Catching big fish: Luck or Skill?
Yep, those dark gloomy wet days are often very rewarding, they can also be miserable, uncomfortable days.

Catching big fish: Luck or Skill?
On the water experience plain and simple. I mean if you have fished the same lakes and ponds etc, you should have the necessary data to duplicate your past success.. it pretty much duplicates itself year after year. Water temperature, secondary points, visual confirmation of males in shallow, beds being groomed.. horizontal and even vertical presentation tactics will work but I’m on the horizontal in late winter or early spring. Females will move off the beds and basically retrace their routes and are very hungry.

Seaguar Flurocarbon Broke??
I’ve been using Yozuri Hybrid for maybe 23 years. Recently I bought a spool of Daiwa Samurai FC in 22 for flipping & short pitches. No problems yet, but, I don’t have a lot of time with it. Something else, IMO, the difference between the two aforementioned lines as far as sensitive is very thin. If I have much trouble with it I’ll just go back to Yo or CXX as I’m very use to the unruly behavior of the heavier lines. I do like the Daiwa line. Time will tell.

Daiwa Zillion HD 1000 magz boost
Been outside off and on all day and I’ll say one thing for sure: It will easily out pitch my Bantam XG, and it’s no contest really. I can fire this thing at a low trajectory but with great speed. The Bantam just doesn’t have that speed… as far as distance, I give the advantage to the 1000 yet again. But it’s close, with the Daiwa though it’s just a smoother and quicker cast. These EVA grips: I’ve never been a fan, I guess I can make do but any suggestions on replacement grips? @bulldog1935 @AlabamaSpothunter Totally loving this reel. I might be a convert 😂 I can always count on BR to either open my eyes or just peak my curiosity.. I need another one, plus a crazy cranker and maybe a steez?

What's your bass fishing superpower?
A Texas rig worm, tungsten weight and a proper hook and I’ll catch fish. PS: a rattletrap is plan B 🤣

You’re fishing in my favorite way, excepting the frog lol. My favorite is pitching Hydrilla. Second would be throwing a trap and very close to that is LC squarebills.. Super glad to hear from everyone on their experiences with the reel. I spooled her up, with 10# Yozuri Hybrid & mounted it on my GLX 844C and tied on a 1/2 lead weight started throwing on brake setting 6 and backed down to 4. However it’s really chilly out and my 128 pound male German Shepherd wanted to play destroy the rod 🤣😂🤣 I fear one day he could succeed 😉 Thank you for your feedback. PS. Right now I believe it’s outcasting my Bantam’s and so far I’m loving it..

NFC customer service?
A broken rod when it’s new sucks, everyone would agree with this. The business model is the same as it’s been for years now. The thing or problem really is the very poor communication they’ve displayed over the years. No progress there . Trey Kistler basically fired NFC because of poor production abilities and receiving many subpar blanks. I know this because I received one from Kistler. Which was a bust on both NFC and Treys builders, both companies missed an obvious flaw. Trey made it right of course but it wasn’t long and Kistler moved to an offshore source. No hard feelings, but business is business. Hope you get satisfaction because none of us enjoy such a problem as you’re having.
