  1. It’s a fish.. I’d hardly compare that to a human being. We have dominion over the animals and fishes. Good stewards we must be.
  2. I’d like to try a Zillion but I want one with magforce z do they have such a model? I had a fleet of the OG Zillion reels best reels I ever owned.
  3. Let’s ask Randy B.. he’s got it all figured out including those pesky flat brimmers 🤣
  4. Those are what I use. I pick mine up directly from BPS but yea, they’re cheap enough.
  5. I used Daiwa for many years. This past spring I updated my equipment and went all in on Shimano, so no reel recommendations from me. BTW, order from Japan and save some bucks.

Shad raps are good baits to throw in colder water, I once won a tournament in Florida on the St. John’s river on a large Gold/orange shad rap. Solid bait to be sure.

It looks like we’re in for an actual winter this year!
  9. I’ve broke 1 ever.. it was a heavy action Lews built in 84. Best rod I’ve ever owned ever. I use to throw it in any number of Military transport fliers. I fished it in salwater, brackish water and freshwater. I’ve caught hundreds of lmb in central Florida. It broke in the rod locker of my skeeter rig, the tip of the rod and about 6” down the rod was barren of clear coat from saltwater use. The break was 1 inch.. What a rod, she broke in 98. Best d**n rod ever 😂rod was built in South Korea..

Well if you’re going out make sure you bundle up brother, I just came in from outside here is southern Ind and wind gust are 30 to 40 and it’s -frigging cold af outside 🤣🤣🤣. Seriously, be careful and good luck fishing.
  11. Magforce Z is awesome. I have a lot of experience with Magforce, Magforce Z and Magforce V , I have tried the SV and in my opinion it’s a grossly overbraked system for my uses. However in testing on a Daiwa Zillion rod 7’ 3” MH rod w regular bend and with a 3/8 ounce lead casting weight the reel and rod would throw 120 to 130’ rather easily. As far as pitching, I didn’t like it for that at all. Edit: I should add that during my testing of the reel with the SV spool my brake setting was on zero for everything. So you can see the amount of brake force that was still being applied even on zero.. for a 120 foot cast. This was performed about 50 or 60 times..
  12. Look at that flat brimmer 🤣😂🤣
  13. Exactly right, somehow, some people have forgotten this..
  14. Credit should be ultimately given to Ray Scott of BASS.. in the early days the limit was 10 lmb, couple that with fish dead on a stringer and it became a bad look.. they shifted to 5 alive and most sportsman agreed. After all, most everyone wanting to harvest fish are not targeting lmb.. but rather panfish or walleye, sauger . Personally pan fried bluegill is pretty good 😆

Get better Catt.. praying for you and your better half!
  16. Yup, had more than a few of those, my gracious time flies! Had a Guido spinning rod, he used a 4000 sized daiwa reel and a 7’ MH rod, but that rod was a fast/heavy all day long. Powermesh construction 🤣it was a real thing I think 😆
  17. It happens. Take it back, send it back or trash it..
  18. Ask again in mid January for my 1,000 word answer. 🤣🤣🤣
  19. I’m a 8.1 or 7.1 speed on all my bottom techniques. Of course not going to reference my spinning reels here. They’re numbers that give an approximate number of inches per turn..
  20. Hey I seen that creature down on Lochloosa one day 😂
  21. Totally understand that, I felt the same way when I bought my Skeeter w 150 Yamaha on it.. that rig was an incredible boat and motor and I owned and ran it for 15 years! It is a labor of love but I’ve never owned a better motor ever. Good lookin rig ya got!
  22. Care to share what rods you’re breaking? If not, I get it..
  23. Yep, a lot of folks seem to miss that.. There's an old saying in saltwater fishing that holds true for any kind of fishing. Weight + bait =
  24. I use a Heavy, moderate fast IMX CBR for vibrating jigs. I don’t use them a whole lot, I prefer throwing fat square billed crank baits but my rod is very adequate at double duty so there’s that..
