Daiwa Samurai in 22 is my new flipping line. It’s really good stuff and it comes in 250 yard spools. I paid 29$ for mine you’ll have to look around to get it that cheap though.

I will fish a tube with no weed guard and an exposed hook but almost never ever fish a jig w no weed guard. It made me think for a bit realizing and deciding to fish jigs w 5/0 hooks and NO weed guard . With hair of course.. 😆😆🇺🇸🇺🇸

Idk.. 84 to 90 was me burning up central and north Florida catching Hogs..mono and anti reverse reels were the norm and nobody cared. While the 90’s truly revealed more technical advances, for me, it’s from 79 to 90..

What brand and how many guides does this rod have? Braid or FC or mono? Spinning or Baitcaster?

I’ve moved away from that boisterous 10 XD.. ugh talking about a workout with the occasional reward. I’m throwing heavier Jigs, T-rigged worms via C-rig now. I enjoy my deep water fishing now more than ever.

My first Avid was a flipping model and it was fire! Then I grabbed a few more models.. but yea things changed with them and I moved on. Had a ML 7’ spinning rod, maybe my all time favorite but man.. St. Croix, what are they doing?? Anyway.. plenty of other choices. Totally happy with my GLX & IMX rods..

Made in the USA baby… my rods all except 1 Daiwa Zillion, which incidentally has no warranty now. All my Loomis rods are covered. I use to be a St. Croix dude but I just began to dislike the handles on many of the rods and went with Loomis predominantly.. It’s nice to have choices. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

I’m on new property in the country, along with the place and land came 3 out buildings, it’s a smaller house than I’m use too and I’ve always stored my rods and reels inside. However, I’m thinking of storing all of my expensive rods outside. What do you all think? Yes, no, maybe?

The only Daiwa Zillion I own is a 7’3” rod in regular bend. It’s a d**n fine rod, full eva grip is nice albeit slick. I know this is about reels though. Only Shimano for me. I do respect Daiwa I’m just not a Twing fan.

Absolutely lightning can find our graphite & carbon rods. I surveyed for many years and if we knew or heard thunder within 30 miles we quit working.. live to fish/work another day.

I’ve ordered from Asian portal 3 times this year and shipping was a measly 14$ delivered by FedEx twice and DHL.. DHL is my least favorite, my reel sat 90 miles away from me for 5 extra days but arrived in safe condition..but I’m not a fan of them.

Well ya gotta fish where big fish are. Secondly, you gotta fish pre-spawn and spawn when you see & feel the weather becoming agreeable, you’re too late! Finally, there are exceptions to every lake, river, pond, highland reservoir, lowland reservoir, Anyway.. 🤪

I can tell you Denny Brauer would never consider working a jig all the way back.. Woo Daves use to flip with a Zebco 808, what gear ratio was that behemoth I wonder 🤣

I’m a Shimano guy that tried a Daiwa this past spring, grossly overbraked (sv) you want to throw lighter rigs buy a metanium shallow spool edition and prepare to smile… Research the reel Jun will tell you about on Japan tackle. True. Even with the Daiwa I bought and tried with a zillion rod w regular bend I could get 130 feet easily w 3/8 just wouldn’t pitch worth a d**n..
