Your Current Frog'n Line and Color ?
Been using Kastking Mega 8 Black Ops 50 lb for a couple of years. Great? No but it works fine for what I need it for. It casts fine and has never broke off. and I do a LOT of heavy cover "combat" frogging during the summer. My frog equipment takes a LOT of abuse..including the line

Skipping and backhand casting
I can skip a frog like a mad man but then again, that isn't that hard. Beyond that, it's a crap shoot.

My Take On Modern Vintage Casting Setup
Beaut of a combo! I DO agree with Fishes in Trees, though. That makes my wrist hurt just looking at it.

What size braid should I go with?
I have Sufix 832 on mine and I think I run either 8 or 10

braided line fraying every session?
Wow.....I have some old Power pro on one of my rods that is way passed time for changing. Probably 5 years old but it doesn't look NEARLY that bad. You got a problem somewhere.

Lipless Hook Set Question
Weird..I don't think I've ever lost a fish that hit a lipless crank. Just a quick sweep to set and they hook themselves.

Frogs - setting the hook
This. Frogging takes time and practice. It WILL click.

Did success create your favorite bait?
Absolutely not. My favorite bait is a top water frog. It took untold hours and missed fish to get proficient at it. I'm not generally that patient but something about it made me want to get really good at it. Even now after approximately a decade of hard frogging I would say I am "above average to good" at the technique, But when the stars align and the big girls are hiding under those mats, there is nothing better.

95% New to this
So you haven't been fishing since you were 12? Use what you got and put a nightcrawler on a hook under a bobber. Go fish. If you're bored quickly, this probably ain't the hobby for you and you ain't out much. If you enjoy being outside and peaceful and rasslin with sunnies and the occasional bass or catfish, you can start ratcheting up your gear game. Ain't nothing wrong with an Ugly stick and a Zebco or whatever you got. See if you actually LIKE fishing first. Ain't no point in dropping coin on something you THINK you might like.

Using Scent?
This should have said I USE Megastrike on skirted baits and JJ's on soft plastics. I'm not telling anyone to do anything. Just what works for me.

Setting up the brakes on a BC reel question
Of course this makes perfect sense. I just never thought of it. Will do it today!

Using Scent?
Use MegaStrike on skirted baits. JJ's on plastics

Last Reel Ever - The One.....
I'm good with what I got but I DO like the Morethan's. That is a beautiful reel

Great bait for these rough economic times
Meh. I get it but I think China has done enough for us right at the moment. I believe I will pass on sending my money directly to them for now. I'll keep it here as much as I can. Even if it costs a little more

Proven baits that don't produce, perhaps.
Jigs. Thrown them for years. Tried and tried and tried. Caught total of 2 fish in the whole time. I dunno

Mepps/Panther Martin & H&H Spinner Lure?
Ahhhh...ok, I'm with you. Sorry man. I'm still surprised you've had them come off. You must be fighting better fish than I am.
-
Mepps/Panther Martin & H&H Spinner Lure?
Split ring would change the geometry of the hook and cause it to hang off the lure sideways. Also, the thinner wire of a split ring would make it easier for the hook to come off. Not harder. I'm actually surprised that has been an issue for anyone. Seems to me that once those things are on there (always incorrectly for me for some darn reason!) they are a bear to get off.
-
Mepps/Panther Martin & H&H Spinner Lure?
I'm a big fan of H&H and if I'm throwing a spinner bait, 95% of the time it's an H&H. The only time I don't is if I need something a little bigger. I will give a bit of info.....when you get them, you have to put the hook on yourself and you WILL do it wrong. It's just one of those things...lol

New Scum Frog for 2020
Yeah, I guess they do actually have Owner hooks already.

The latest sale thread
BPS Stik-O's are $5.49 for a 30 pack of the best colors. Less than the price of a 16 pack. I got enough Green Pumpkins to last me for 5 years...lol

New Scum Frog for 2020
I throw 5/8 Scum Frog Trophy Series Natural Black/Green almost exclusively. I throw them into the heaviest muck mats possible with the highest arc on the cast I can get. Those things land with a *plop* that is unlike any other frog I've used. I let it sit there for a second and then give it a couple of pops in place. That's usually when the blow up happens. If not I start bringing it with pops and shakes. Great frogs at a great price. I hope Scumfrog is not chasing price point and starts changing them. I don't care about Owner hooks and "Realistic Paint Jobs". Where I throw them, they can't see them anyway. The eyes come off, they get torn and look like hell, but they keep on chugging. I'll let other guys pay 20 bucks for a frog. I'll pay less than 6 and outfish them every time. Not because I'm cheap but because it's a superior product that suits my fishing style and conditions perfectly.

When does the season start for you guys?
TOMORROW IN NOWEMO! WHOOOOOOOOO-HOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Anyone ever "started over"? (Philosophical musings itt)
I have tons of stuff. Most days I could go out with a frog rod, my Texas Rig rod, 2 colors of Senkos, and a jar of JJ's because that's all I wind up using anyway.
