drop shot with deep vegetation from shore
I'd kind of think with vegetation to the top of the water out to 10'. A hollow bodied frog or ribbet frog would work for coming through the grass. pretty much anything you throw would need to be weedless. You might try a light shakey head work 1/8 oz or less. Definitely a top water popper or small walking bait for the open water. The Senko or very lightly weighted Texas rigged soft plastic fished slow yaaah. Fishing light line (flouro or mono) is asking to lose fish burying in the weeds. Good luck, FM

Feelfree Lure 13.5 Question
Both Scotty and Ram mounts make "T" bolt adaptors for the rail mounts. Lots of different style holders out there. I'm currently using Scotty on my rigs. With Ram mounts you have much more versatility as far as angle and positioning. Ram mounts use the ball. I would go with the bigger ball it is more secure then the smaller one. Fishingmickey

Bass Tracker Pro Team 175 repower
This is a 17' Tracker not a 14' or 15' model tracker? If it is a 17' and the CG plate says good up to 75hp he might be/is full of it. If it is a 14-15' and CG plate says max 40hp He is probably right. FM

Chatterbait color
I'd go three colors, shad imitation (Chartruese/white, Clearwater shad, Spot remover or White). Spot remover is probably my favorite of the shad colors. Traditional black and blue and a green pumpkin. Bhite delight or Brett's bluegill would be my top choices. FM

Help identifying this fish
I agree with J Franco. Tilipia, just very dark compared to what I have seen here in Texas. What did you catch it on? FM

Tournament Strats?
One of my things is divide the lake into thirds. Lower, middle and upper. Do your map study on Navonics and go check out the areas you find interesting (humps, points, flats and structure). I check for water clarity in each of the thirds and the presence of bait/bass food. One of the most key items I look for is vegetation. Does it have pretty green growing healthy plants? If it does you can almost bet there is bass there. Good luck, FM

Austin kayaks
I have had great support from ACK. ACK does a lot to support the sport of kayak fishing here in Texas. I have fished the KATS (kayak angler tournament series) for the last five years. ACK sponsors and runs that series. There has been some changes in the local hierarchy (staff turnover) that are disturbing. Not so sure what the future holds for KATS. Hope they continue to support the tournament fishing like they have. Fishingmickey

Doubts with Shimano Curado K and Curado
Maherme, I am in complete agreement with everyone's assessment above. I have both the "K" and the "70". The 70 is a great finesse reel and the K is good for bigger baits. The K doesn't like throwing light or weightless baits.

Bottom contact rod
I have a Denali Lithium 7' MH/fast (one of the worm/jig rods they make) that I feel it is a very sensitive high quality light rod. I do love my Kistler helium 3's also. FM

line for long distance spinning
I would go to either Sun line Deflier 8-10lb or Berkley XL 8-10lb.

not a good weekend......
Crypt, My long time friend and fishing partner had Prostate cancer. He had the radiation treatments done and has been in remission for 5-6 years now. They have really upped the game regarding targeted radiation where they can focus the radiation directly where it is needed. You might want to look into some of the alternative treatments before resorting to surgery. Good luck and hope everything comes out well for you. Fishingmickey

Difference between roboworm normal and FX series
FX is touting deep "3D colors" and is anywhere depending on size .30-.70 per package more. the FX 7" worm is 8 per pack and the Reg. Robo 7" is 10 per pack. There is 5 colors of the FX and 54 colors of the Reg. Robo. Any other differences you'll have to look closer then I did. FM

Ordered a Shimano Curado DC today - Anyone use it yet?
Russ, I am also thinking about purchasing a Curado DC. I also have several Curado "E"s and I purchased a JDM Scorpion DC last year. I have two of the Curado K's. If the Curado DC is very similar to the Scorpion DC and I am assuming it is. I have been very pleased with the Scorpion DC's performance. It throws light finesse worms (1/8 oz ball head jig) very well and I've used it up to 1/2 oz lipless and spinner baits. I'm using 12-14# fluorocarbon (Sniper or Tatsu) on it for what it is worth. The Curado K's do not throw the light baits as well. Hope that information helps with your decision. Fishingmickey

voltage readings on electronics?
Your battery is low once it goes below 12V output. You should be able to run your electronics on a 12V deep cycle battery (80-105 amp hour) for a long time. If other things are also running off of the same battery and no way for it to charge without being plugged into a charger. I would suspect that your battery has reached the end of it's useful life.
