  1. Thanks! Do I need to degrease the bearings before I oil them?
  2. Is the stuff pictured the correct Perfect Solution that you recommend?
  3. Is this this the Perfect Solution you were talking about for degreasing? Can it be found at Walmart, Menards, Fleet Farms?
  4. I tried heat shrink, didn't work as well for me.
  5. I know I had a problem with the original St. Croix Mojo Bass baitcasting rods because instead of the 1/2 moon style hook keeper, it had an open ended one that always caught the line, in subsequent generations St. Croix fixed that problem and went with the 1/2 moon style. I have 1/2 moon styles on all of my Cabelas baitcasting and spinning rods and never had any line interference. Open Ended Style Hook Keeper 1/2 Moon style Hook Keeper
  6. I started a thread asking what type of oil and grease to use for my baitcasting and spinning reels. Currently my Revo Rocket is making this noise (below video) when I cast. It doesn't make any noise when reeling in. My other Rocket is completely quiet and this one used to be silent also. One poster said if it makes noise on the cast it is most likely the needing oil and that is a quick and easy 5 minute job, which I am hoping it is. I am going on a trip soon and only want to oil it if it can be helped. I can do a full reel service once I'm done fishing for the year. Does this Rocket only need a quick oiling for now?
  7. I have all Cabelas Tournament ZX Dropshot which is a medium rod with an extra fast tip. It is made for 6-12# line and 1/8 oz - 3/8 oz lures and is 7' feet long. I really like them, the only problem being the back cap tends to peel off after about a year, and in my opinion the reel butt is about 2" inches too long, however, for a regular height person, it is probably perfect. The ZX is normally priced at $99.99 and I always buy them when they are on sale for $69. The Cabelas Tournament ZX is a very good rod for $100 and a great rod for $69. I wanted to try something different and bought a Dobyns Fury which is normally a $109 rod. It is made for 8-17# line and 3/16 to 5/8 oz lures and is 7' feet long and also a medium power, I don't know what type of tip it has. After using them both I've got to say the Dobyns is lacking. I found that the butt is too short, the weight is too far forward making the rod front heavy, and the hook keeper is behind the reel which makes your line get caught up on the reel stem just hooking it up. It's like Dobyns looked at other rods and said, "The hook keeper has been in front of the reel since they started using hook keepers and it's worked great with almost all other rods placing the hook keeper there, we will do the opposite for the sake of being different". I currently have a Shimano Stradic Ci4 2500 on it and may put a heavier Daiwa Procyon spinning reel on it that will balance the weight out more. It's crazy that the hook keeper is behind the reel, such a pain attempting to tighten up the line once the hook is in place. Fighting fish the Dobyns is fine, just having the balance off, too short of butt (I like a longer butt because I do 2 handed casting for longer casts), and hook keeper behind the reel is just too much going against it. I will hopefully get another Tournament ZX on sale and let my brother use the Dobyns. Winner: Cabelas Tournament ZX Cabelas Tournament ZX - Score: 4.5 out of 5 Dobyns Fury - Score: 3.5 out of 5
  8. I would like to know this too.
  9. I ran it a few times after I held the key down so it shouldn't have been running rich any more. Thanks. Yeah, it's always ran XD100.
  10. It recently started smoking a lot. Seems to run fine. Started fine first time, had to hold the key for a second to start it second time, and third and fourth time started right up. This is all a three hour period. I don't ever think its smoked before. This is new Evinrude XD100 oil I got from Domo Online. It was fully serviced last winter by a dealer. This video is after a 4 minute run.
  11. I use 3/4" inch piece of vinyl 3/8" inside diameter-1/2" outside diameter tubing (the kind you get at Menards or aquarium tubing. I have noticed that not all 5" Senkos are the same thickness. This works with pumpkin green and cinnamon brown.
  12. Here's the link: Here's the link: Heres a pic since the old ones are gone now.
  13. Bought some Zman Zinkerz and just opened the packaging and it looks like they melted, they were stuck together. Looked like what old, used, worn out Senkos look like all roughed up. They are new in the original packaging and were in the bow compartment of my boat. Did they melt or is something else going on?
  14. Dang. lol. FB got me!
  15. Wow. Was actually on the way to meet my friends to go fishing tonight and the weather took a drastic turn. Decided not to go, didn't want to get caught in a lighting/thunderstorm. I think it was the right choice.
  16. Love them. Used them for years. Use them on all my baitcasting rods.
  17. The new 110 if you're using baitcasting gear. There's a reason the 110 was recently created.
  18. What are your components? Thanks!
  19. Maybe. It's ok though, I have been fine tuning my homemade ones.
  20. Whopper Plopper 110 Frog - I have high hopes for the Teckel Sprinker Frog, my homemade ones have worked well. Zoom Super Flukes Nosehooked with Owner Twistlock CPS Senkos with tubing to make them last longer.
  21. Thanks! What sucks is that I have a big fishing trip coming up and the frogs are supposed to come in the day after I return. lol.
  22. So excited.....can't wait to get it! lol. Plus, I didn't want to hijack those otjer threads. Wanted to see what orher peoples experiences are with it. Didn't want to get my hopes up. If everyone said it didn't work as advertised and sucked, I'd know in advance and be more prepared for the let down. lol.
