  1. I had this problem with someone who I used to fish with that was better than me. I accepted the fact that he was better than me, and when he would give me advice, I would try to follow it, for the most part. It gradually got to the point that when I would fish with him and I would try something different, he would get upset, and say things like, "That'll never work," and "You can't catch anything with that." When I would catch a decent fish, it was "I've caught better," and "That's nothing." Needless to say, we don't fish anymore.
  2. I had this same problem and opted to stop my bass magazine subscription. About 2 months afterwards, I recieved a new bass membership offer in the mail, accepted, and I am in the system again. The renewals is where they get you.
  3. Our UPS man isn't afraid of my dog, unlike other package delivers such as Fed-Ex. Our UPS man lets the dog lick him, and pets her a lot. Back to the original thread, I saw the video, it's AWESOME!
  4. Congrats man!
  5. I kept a fishing log this year and have tallied up the numbers, and I have caught over 80 bass, one of which was a smallmouth which became my new PB at 3 and 1/2 lbs. It was a good year for fishing, and I also discovered a great place to go this spring. Overall, I'd give 2006 a "8" out of 10.
  6. Awesome job on the crappie. I haven't caught a good mess of crappie in a while, the last time I did was back in last year.
  7. I am also glad to hear that...I don't kill turtles unless instructed to do so. Even then, I have a hard time doing it. For example, I used to fish at a pond and the owner instructed me to kill the snapping turtles because the snappers were killing the baby ducks? Anyway, I reluctantly agreed to, and I caught two of them within a two week period while fishing for bass on live nightcrawlers. Fortunately for the turtles, I had no net of any size to get them out of the water, and I sure as heck ain't picking them up when there is a two foot area between the bank and the water. Now snakes, that's a different story. Garter snakes and green snakes, and other non-poisonous snakes are free to roam around my house. Copperheads and rattlers? They better keep their distance is all I can say....
  8. Well, then I've caught several nuts..... ;D
  9. A 300lb sturgeon?! That is a monster! I would also like to see some pics if you have them!
  10. No problem man. Stuff happens.
  11. No need to apologize for spamming, just don't do it.
  12. When school is over, if I have no homework, if I don't have to go anywhere else, and if it isn't raining, snowing, or hailing, I can go. That averages out to about 100-150 days a year.
  13. We had some good snow showers here yesterday....wanted to go fishing in it but couldn't.... ;D It is supposed to stay cold one more day then warm up...hopefully no snow until deer season rolls around.
  14. People who say they have a nice pit bull are pretty much saying they have a nice stick of dynamite. It might look good for a while, but after a while, it WILL BITE. There have been several cases here in WV about people letting their pitbulls run loose, and they have KILLED children. Don't tell me pitbulls don't bite. Don't take your chances.
  15. Cool...thanks for the response. Thought I was the only one watching them. We have a game camera in the woods behind our house. Maybe someday cameras that record video tapes can become more widely available and on a more modest budget level? Right now, our camera snaps a picture as things go by, and as of now, we have pics of a bobcat, deer, turkey, and squirrels, and we have also seen coyotes, foxes, and hawks.
  16. There are several people at my church that I know that are in Iraq, Afghanistan, and even a soldier on duty at the border, helping to keep out illegals from our county. Remember this Christmas when you are sitting on your couch watching TV and having it good that there are soldiers overseas fighting for your rights and liberties. Against the war or for the war, America needs to come together and support our troops and why they are over there. Latte sipping Hollywood celebrities know nothing about what goes on overseas, as do much people who watch ABC, CBS, and other evening news stations. The only way you can get true, reliable information is from a soldier. God Bless Our Troops and Come Home Safe When The Job Is Finished.
  17. That, my friend, is a rock bass.
  18. Another wildlife update: I am seeing more animals now, about 4 water buffalo at the pond. They are drinking in it and wallowing around in it. Am I the only one seeing some things? :-?
  19. Ok, thanks for all the help guys. I will keep all this in mind when I head out on my next trip. Funny thing is that I just looked outside and it is snowing.... Just in time to try out some winter spinnerbait techniques!
  20. I just read this entire thread and have come to this conclusion. St. Croix, you have stated two things about your camera. 1) Your $60 camera was ruined by water. 2) Your $300 camera was ruined by water. Glenn's right, not jumping on you, but, clarification?
  21. I have a question... Would a spinnerbait work effectively in the late fall/early winter months? It could be slow rolled, bottom bounced, etc. I know the key to winter fishing is to slow things down, as bass usually become somewhat inactive, at least here in WV. What size of spinnerbait should I use? I would guess a small one, and the color would be according to where you fish. Thanks and happy fishing.
  22. Right now at 9:06 eastern time here I am watching a Hyena drink from the water. The camera was still, and all of a sudden it moved to the left and zoomed in on something...I was curious because I couldn't see what it was until the camera zoomed in on it. What a crystal clear picture!
  23. Wow, what a PIIIGGG! That's a good fish there!
  24. Typed, and when I have the rough draft done, it'll come here.
  25. Smallmouth when I can get to them...LM any other time.
