As a co-angler I would take as much as I could with me to the tournament. I'd talk to my boater the night of the draw and find out what he prefers I bring, and the style that we may be fishing. I'd adjust for that, but you will never hear someone say "man, I wish I hadn't brought that extra box"...

Good decision. The world of boat shopping is a frigid SOB. Unless you have the money to walk in and buy a showroom one, you will grow to hate the shopping. My house went under contract and if it sells, I'll be in the same boat you are. (not that I don't already shop around). Hell, you stop fishing in the 2 man and your luck/skill might go out with it!

potentially stupid question here... I found a place that I can rent a hobie kayak for reasonable that will deliver to the lagoons in Palmetto. From reading other stuff online, the consensus is that alligators leave kayaks alone. My question is, will they still leave me alone if I'm catching fish, or will that draw them to me??? I'd rather not be sampled by a gator.

I had a 175 mariner (1988) that did the same thing. They replaced the alarm sensor, unfortunately, not before they replaced the water pump and impeller.

Micah, Those year nitros were bad about getting stress cracks right behind the seats on the top cap. Don't think they really got it under control until 1994. My honest opinion is you can find a better boat for $3k, and that's what I would do. You will forever hate yourself if you buy a problem. Been there, done that.

May just take you up on that some time. I'll have to see how much I'm allowed to be gone, as this really wasn't supposed to be a fishing vacation... So far, the wife seems to be pretty cool with everything though!
