The problem is the spinning reel. When you are jerking the bait loops can form on the spool. A spinning reel likes constant pressure on the line. I have also noticed that braid allows slack on jumps that gives the bass opportunity to throw the bait.

Your line must have stretch in it! Never braid for this.

Line manageabiity -FC twists and flows off the reel when you don't want it to. Sensitivity. Casts further. Disadvantages of braid: Sometimes it casts out a horrible snarl! That being said, on my next DS outing, I'm taking two rods - one with braid/leader and one with FC. I will alternate casts and see if there is a significant difference in the bite. That will eliminate the skill of the other angler (or mojo) as a reason for more fish.

Don't limit your DS rig to small baits. I sometimes use a 6-7" worm on a 3/0 fine wire EWG hook. Drag it? yes! Drift it? Absolutely! Definitely do NOT try the Neko rig, it does NOT catch fish! Especially with a 4" Yum Dinger!
