  1. Define "Deep Diving" please. Are we talking DT10 type deep? Or 10XD type deep? Both baits require totally different rods.
  2. Hmm, let me check with the others and see if we're allowing any more yinzers on this website right now... Just kidding, welcome to the site!
  3. 1 broken rod and 1 broken guide in the last 20 years. The broken rod happened when I was younger and I had a large pike split the boat on me and I didn't know how to play a fish like that. So I essentially high stickied the fish and broke the rod in half. The broken guide was on a Fenwick HMG about 3-4 years ago. Pretty sure that guide got stepped on at some time while laying on the boat deck. I went to bend it back and it snapped off.
  4. While I like the action I get with jerkbaits when using a braided main line, I have found that I straighten out more hooks on my jerkbaits when I used braid. And because of that, Sniper FC 12# gets my vote here.
  5. Thanks for taking care of us here at BassResource again, Mike! I made sure to put my order in. 6. I never knew they made soft plastic Pop-R's...
  7. It's been in the 90's here the past few days and is supposed to continue for a few more days. If only the water temps would drop down to around 70*, I'd be a happy camper.
  8. I have the 7'2" Heavy graphite Expride. I absolutely love that rod, but like you stated, glass is a totally different animal.
  9. Definitely doesn't sound normal. Do as @J Francho suggested. I've owned probably 50+ Shimano's over the years and I've only ever had a problem once ever (a spinning reel that wasn't assembled correctly from the factory). In that instance, Shimano paid for me to ship it back to them and they sent me out a brand new replacement.
  10. You'd be surprised at what you can get off eBay too. Lot's of tackle shops on there that offer great prices and decent shipping rates, even if you're only buying one lure.
  11. Use chum...
  12. Most successful is slow crawling, which is basically the only way that they reliably work. Color - pick a color to match your forage and go with it.
  13. Sometimes it's all about the thermocline too... I've caught walleye in 1' of water in the middle of August while burning squarebills over the rocks. They hangout in places just like the bass more than we think.
  14. Lucky Craft Flat CB DR - has a deep one knocker and runs 8ish feet on 12lb fluoro. However, you're going to spend $12-15 to get one. I've got about 50 of these things and I've gotten many of them custom painted since the color options are a little limited when it comes to craw colors.
  15. I did really well in this one. 94th percentile. I had Walker and Feider fishing on Sunday, and then I had KVD who made it to Saturday.
  16. Having a length will at least put us in the ball park of what the fish might weigh. A good fisherman always has a tape measurer on him! Just judging by the size of your hands compared to the size of the head/mouth, I'm going to guess around 4 pounds (give/take a 1/2 pound).
  17. Haha! On another note, here's where I stood after day 1. My E bracket is pulling me along! KVD - 30 Feider - 34 Avena - 61 JVD - 39 Walker - 2
  18. How does that even happen?! Especially at this level of experience...
  19. Weigh in's for day 1 are over. The top 52 guys have over 20 pounds
  20. Currently 7 bags over 25 pounds.... Brett Hite with a 6-12 lunker. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if someone breaks the 7 pound mark with a smallie.
  21. Prime example of my earlier comment. These guys are 2-3 pounds light on their BassTrak. BassTrak Actual KVD 19-8 22-3 Palaniuk 18-12 20-15 Feider 19-0 21-11
  22. Yeah, I usually take it with a grain of salt. I know guys like KVD, Palaniuk, and Feider are always super light on what they tell the marshall's.
  23. According to Basstrak, the top 38 guys are estimated to have 19 pounds. That's insane!!
  24. My all time favorite squarebill rod is my Dobyns 705CB (graphite). I like the Champion line, but buy whichever lineup fits your budget.
