  1. I don't foresee anybody putting out something nicer than the Curado DC.
  2. I very rarely buy used reels. However, regardless of where I buy one from, I always immediately send it out to a professional to be looked over and gone through. I personally recommend Delaware Valley Tackle. @Delaware Valley Tackle
  3. Brownells and Cheaper Than Dirt are always having good sales.
  4. I'll take quality over weight as long as it's under 10oz...
  5. I own two of the Curado K's and I honestly think they're the best reel out there in the sub $200 range. I have not used an Okuma TCS, but I have held them and I definitely feel like the Curado K feels much more solid in the hands.
  6. Glenn always pays out Circuit City gift cards to the top 3 performers in our group at the end of the year.
  7. I was totally thrown off by this tournament being Friday to Monday. I just logged in to check BassTrak and realized this...
  8. This event is going to be anyone's guess. I tried to stick with smallmouth/river guys. The main river channel of this lake is over 100' deep. KVD Feider Avena JVD Walker Side note - in the three years I've been doing fantasy, I think this is the first time I've ever picked KVD.
  9. Right? I remember paying $3 for them in the 90's. I remember in the early 00's buying a bulk lot on eBay of 100 of them without hooks for like $60 shipped. I wish I had bought more of them now.
  10. Because I'm a firm believer in our lord and savior - Green Pumpkin
  11. That's the worse part of catching a cat. Having to cut the first 5 feet of line off because they rolled in it during the entire fight.
  12. I forgot about jelly worms! I still fish those (and sniff them too every time I open them).
  13. Jitterbugs Devils Horse Torpedo's Pre-Rap Wiggle Warts Creme Scoundrels in natural nightcrawler Original Bill Lewis Rat-L-Traps (pretty sure I own over 200 of them)
  14. Hooksets are free.... I grew up fishing all moving baits, so I still don't consider myself an expert with bottom contact baits. I've been known to send quite a few jigs/t-rigs flying through the air during a day of fishing.
  15. Seems to happen pretty often for me...
  16. I was completely shocked to see Ish win. I followed the whole tournament up until about 2 PM on Sunday and I thought for sure that JPow or Tharp was going to win it. Woke up this morning and saw that Ish won and I was shocked. Congrats to him though. I know it's been a few years for him.
  17. Woo! Tungsten sells a 5/8oz flipping weight. I'm not sure of anyone who makes a 5/8oz barrel weight. Because of the nature of tungsten and the fact that it's made overseas still, the market isn't huge for it.
  18. Is Feider out of range today? He's showing a goose egg for today...
  19. Proud owner of an Excense DC, which came out in 2012/13 I believe. No problems to report here!
  20. The Shimano DC braking system uses no batteries. The spool spinning during the cast is the "power generator" thanks to magnetic electricity. It's a very intelligent design.
  21. More than likely you have left your drag sit in a tightened/locked position for so long that is has damaged/crushed the drag washers. This is why it is important to back the drag off on any baitcasting reel when it is not in use (regardless of company).
  22. For me personally, I'm a tournament angler who fishes as a co-angler 90% of the time. So I often have to deal with power poles, motors, consoles, fish finders, etc. all being in my way when trying to flip/pitch from the back of the boat. So because of that, I do prefer the shorter 853/854. I do own a Megabass Orochi EMTF which is a 7'5" rod like the 893/4 and I have used it from the front deck. And I must say, that extra length sure is nice when flipping jigs around cover.
  23. I have one of the casting and one of the spinning Ike rods, however, neither of them are the composite versions. Wish I could help you out more.
  24. Replacing the hooks on a lure is like upgrading the tires on a sports car. You paid for the lure, so make it your own.
  25. The new Gamakatsu G-Finesse hooks are perfect for jerkbaits. Super sticky sharp and a nice light wire for easy hookups on fish that slap at the bait.
