3rd Annual BassResource.com Roadtrip!!!
Hey Fluke, Going up to KY to get my boat tomorrow.....they are putting on some new brake pads and rotors for me.

What do you like on a bait caster, Centrifugal brakes or Magnetic and why ?
I prefer magnetic just for convenience. As reelmech said though I rarely adjust them once they are set so it's really not that big a deal one way or the other.

Top water
I learned an interesting lesson last summer during the bad drought conditions. Normally in the summer the fish are deep on the ledges near the channel (Lake Barkley, KY) and traditional wisdom is to fish the ledges with deep diving cranks, jigs or big worms. Due to the drought they were not pulling water thru the dam and oxygen levels in the lake were low. Fishing was tough for me and others....UNTIL....I went fishing with a friend who is an excellent fisherman.....he said the fish are near the surface due to the low oxygen levels deep and suggested we tie on some Sammys and fish topwater where the oxygen level was better......LOW and BEHOLD we whacked em that day.

Just bought an Avid 6'8" med. xf, what's the best reel for under$125
Welcome to the forum! My choices would be either a Daiwa Tierra 2500 ($115) or a Shimano Symetre 2500 ($80). I have both and have no complaints with either, both are very nice reels.

3rd Annual BassResource.com Roadtrip!!!
Glenn, I just called Patti to make sure they had my reservation. They did. She was able to look it up by my confirmation number. When I made it I didn't tie it in to Bass Resource so that is why I was not on her list. I asked her if I was missing out on a discount and she assured me the price was the same.

Sunline Defier?
I bought some last year to try it and I agree 100% with Bud....it is far better than any line I have used. Smoother, casts great and I find it is much easier to fix a backlash with this line also. That having been said I still use Yozuri Hybrid Ultra Soft due to the cost but there is no question the Sunline Defier is the best stuff I have tried by far.

rat-l-trap and lipless crankbait what's the difference?
The lipless crankbait is a category of crankbaits.....the rattle trap is one model made by Bill Lewis Co. It is one of many brands although I think it may be the original lipless crank. The Red Eye Shad is just another model made by Strike King. Folks will have different preferences although most agree that this is an effective bait especially in the spring. I would try a few different brands and see what you like.....BTW....hooks on the rattle traps are not very good and you would be well advised to change them out.
