  1. If I'm not mistaken he's a Volunteer fan which means he's a great guy!!
  2. Hey Hookem....come on down and visit sometime....at $200,000,000 + it's a really nice basement!
  3. Hey, how are ya'll doing up there..........kind of lonely down here in the basement....
  4. Sure did....great day fishing with CJ and looking forward to doing it some more this summer. Ya'll may want to invest in some green pumpkin tubes and some chartruese JJ's magic. Just a hint! : Great job on the video Glenn, enjoyed reliving the trip.
  5. Agree 100% not many are more knowledgeable than Reelmech when it come to rods and reels. I have a few Avids and a Carrot Stick. I love my Avids and I bought the Carrot Stick just to give it a try. I like it because I like light gear but who knows what will happen in the long run. If I didn't have the luxury of buying the Carrot Stick just to give it a try there is no question I would go with an Avid. The blanks are made with different formulas of materials and they use different guides. Different manufacturers have varying opinions of med or Med hvy which makes comparing difficult and inexact (for example a St Croix MH is similar to a Loomis Hvy) and so it goes. To me the Avid = tried and true and the Carrot Stick = Jury is still out. I'm sure I'll catch fish with both but I think they are very different. If you have the money and like light gear the Carrot is worth a try but if you want to be sure I'd stick with an Avid. JMHO

  11. Here's a vote for you Scott: Glenn....can't be the dictator and president Fluke got me spending too much on Dobyns rods and spot removers RW got me spending too much on Shimano reels and Yozuri line LBH.....NOT WITH THAT DOO I only have two Revos which is a reasonable amount of spending so I believe 5 Bass can manage the deficit the best!
  12. Welcome back Hookem......missed you even though you root for that team! ;D Hope all is well with you!
  13. RiskKid. replied to Zel's topic in Fishing Reports

  15. Been using it (it is a sweet set up) but nothing caught on it yet.....next outing it's going to get me a Hawg though! The prop is still on the shopping list ;D
  16. Uh Oh.....don't have Yozuri Ultra Soft on it either.....thats probably why I got the catfish! ;D
  17. Agreed....I have several Powell rods, they are very nice rods and a good value.
  18. Went out on Percy Priest Yesterday with Shadcranker.. Coudn't wait to try my new spinning combo, Daiwa Tierra on a Shimano Cumara, I rigged it with a finesse tube marinated in JJ's Magic. First cast....FISH ON....nice fight then Shadcranker starts laughing his butt off.....it's a catfish and I hate holding those slimy guys which has him laughing even harder....but OK it's one cast and one fish Second cast...FISH ON.....it's what is supposed to be there, a LM Third cast.....Fish ON.....another LM....Three for Three What a way to break in a new combo....caught a couple more with it before the day was over. I've got a new favorite spinning set up!!!
  19. I started with a Shimano Citica and feel it was the perfect choice based on price (119 retail but there are deals to be had) and quality. I still use it as much as any other reel I have. I would suggest a 100 size.
  20. Just the opposite of me.....I got hair on the sides of my head but not the top! :o I'd call that a HIGH BUDGET DOO!!!!!!
  21. Think I'll use mine to help pay some of the other taxes >
  22. I suspect he had his hands full with school and the new job and maybe his folks got involved to help him set priorities......hopefully we'll see him back this summer when school's out.....he seems like a really great young fella.
