Well put Avid......it is like an old fashoined neighborhood where you really knew the neighbors. I too am really looking forward to meeting folks at the Fork.
  4. You better not be dissin my Tennessee cap! ;D ;D I have a Cubs bucket hat I like to wear because I fish as good as they play!
  5. My Mom said the same thing except she said it was Joe Schmo who jumped off
  6. This is pretty interesting folks. They are going to lower the water level to 680 ft and keep it there until the fall when they can reacess things. They are pumping grout into the base of the dam where it sits on limestone to reduce erosion. They say that and the lower level will greatly reduce risk of a breach. They say it is a high risk but nothing is immenent. Regular summer pool is 723 ft so this is 43 ft below summer pool and 10 ft below winter pool. Most boat ramps will be unusable. Marinas are having to make major adjustments (in the millions of $$$$). There are concerns for boat traffic this summer due to smaller lake surface and new hazards. There is worry about fish populations due to temperature changes (this is a deep and cool lake by southern standards and is good for smallmouth and walleye). The Gov of KY is beginning research on economic impact. As our dams in this country age this becomes a timely and interesting situation to follow. If you do a search on lake cumberland most of this info will come up.
  7. Thanks Deuceu.....I live in Nashville and have not heard a word of this til now. Lake Cumberland is pretty far northeast of Nashville but it is the Cumberland River which flows thru downtown. I'm going to have to do some more research as to whats happening.
  8. I'm mostly happy to be on the water. I seldom fish a whole day. Usually it's about three to four hours on a small state run fishing lake. It gets alot of pressure but I can usually get a couple unless the conditions are just impossible.
  9. Mature a bit.....BUT.....NEVER GROW UP! ;D HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
  10. Colts 21 Bears 17............bears special teams good for at least one touchdown
  11. I thought you were a Mets fan..... ;D
  12. This is my Christmas present to me... Loomis MBR843C; Daiwa Steez......I am going to use 12# Yozuri Hybrid Ultra Soft and experiment with baits Plan on catchin alot :
  13. Wild and entertaining game.......Norm, I hope you're OK after all that .......it's tough on the old ticker when it's your team in the game but that Pats have nothing to be embarresed about. As a crazy Volunteer fan I am really happy for Peyton.....it's been a long time coming for him.
  14. I switched to the ultra soft this past year based on RW's opinions and am glad I did. The ultra soft is better for spinning as it is designed for spinning and has less memory. I set the drag based on about 10 lb test (2.5 to 3 lbs) just because I think that is a conservative compromise. I do use KVD's line conditioner and recommend it although it's not absolutely necessary. You will find with more use this line will loosen up. I use the green color and a palomar knot.
  15. This really bothers me as someone who is pretty green. I really appreciate the info shared by the experienced folks here. I feel like I have ten times as much as much knowledge as I would have otherwise thanks to guys like you. I need to get out fishing more to get better but you guys have sure shortened the learning curve. I joined a bass club this year and chose the one I joined because their emphasis is more on sharing info and having fun. Monetary prizes are small but are there to make it fun and mostly for braggin rights. We are fortunate to have some experienced guys and one who is almost a pro. The best part is they seem to have the same spirit of sharing and teaching found on this forum. Sorry for the rant but the point I'm trying to arrive at comes from another thread that discussed the declining popularity of fishing. Without folks that are willing to share and teach others the sport will without a doubt decline. As Avid often declares.......I have spoken

Hey Avid....that really stinks. I went thru an illness about 7 years ago with multiple surgeries so I know how discouraging it is. Keep up the positive vibes....easier said than done. Looking forward to meeting you at the Fork! Am sending some positive vibes your way.
  17. HEY....careful.....I resemble that remark
  18. Hey Norm....I like it, the football version of the Yankees.....I just became a Pats fan.....welcome to the winners club!
  19. Looks like yankee fan got the best of that car!!! Does UPS put those on their trucks up there? ;D
  20. You guys would be laughing way too hard at the ineptitude of how we handle the snow here.....if we get 1/2 an inch we handle it about the same as you guys would if you got 50 feet ;D ;D Plus the grocery stores love it because everyone has to stock up on milk and bread and they always sell out of that stuff when snow is forcasted. Snow never lasts more than a couple days but people act like they'll be snowed in for a month......it is really very amusing.
  21. LBH.....you would hate driving the UPS truck in Nashville when it snows......no snow removal equipment other than salt, folks panic and have to go home from work thus mucking up traffic, schools close at a forcast of snow, wrecks galore, tow trucks dream......you would be saying "What in the world?????? and your face would look like this

I use it with the zoom finesse worm....1/4 oz.....works well for me. I want to try the pro screw model, have only used the original peg model.
  23. I'm hoping for the Colts and Saints. I think its an even bet who will win.
