"When are they going to tell everyone that Pat's got more wins than all of em" They did recognize it on ESPN when she passed Dean Smith but not to the extent they kept up with Knight......guess because its womens basketball...

New Dell System Just arrived!! QUESTIONS???
My son is a big computer guru.....the first thing he does when fixing or servicing one is convert it to firefox. I don't know a whole lot but he told me it prevents pop ups and it also lets you know when the website you are on is secure (the website address at the top of the screen is highlighted in yellow when on a secure site). Thats nice to know when you order something online and enter credit card numbers or if you do online banking. He also tells me it is more secure overall so I just believe him. Heck, if he lied to me and I found out that would be the end of free beer for him so I suspect he's on the up and up about it. I do know that it won't help if you spill coffee on the keyboard

Fishing is LOSING Popularity?
Just an observation from my ten plus years involved in Boy Scouting. The troop I was involved with is in an affluent part of town and the kids would certainly be considered priveledged. Scouting was just one of many things these kids were pushed to do. There is soccer, baseball etc... school clubs, social clubs etc.. It just seemed to me that many of these kids were pushed to achieve and had little time to be just kids doing simple things like fishing. I felt like some of them were pushed into scouting just to achieve the Eagle rank for their future resume'. This is just a personal and narrow experience but it seems to follow the pattern of more things available for kids to do which gives fishing among other activities more competition.

2nd annual BR.com roadtrip!!!
As one of the less experienced fisherpersons on the road trip I was wondering what everyone is planning on taking gear wise. Rods, reels, baits etc... If left to my own devices I'd surely be bringing too much of the wrong stuff! Hey Cigarlover....I'm thinkin we'll need at least two fine cigars a day....whats ya think??

Shimano Calais 4x8 DC
I have not used one but decided to buy a high end reel. While playing with some in the store and putting them on a rod I did get to look at one and handle it at a recent visit to BPS. The guys that worked there were telling me that they tried it out in the parking lot. They said that they were able to cast it an incredible distance. Said it casted from the store all the way across their parking lot. I'm not a great judge of distance but if what they said was true it is almost an unbeleivable distance. They had it set on the long distance setting. I was very tempted as it is a very nice piece of equipment but decided it was indeed a little too rich for me. Maybe someday....... :

2nd annual BR.com roadtrip!!!
Went to a fishing show here in Nashville this evening and ran into the folks that own Lake Fork Tackle Repair. Really nice couple...Connie and Tommy Kilpatrick. Anyways they had a booth there and had just driven up from the Fork.....told me all about the sharelunker that just got caught...I felt like a real pro because thanks to Matts post I already knew about it. We talked a while and needless to say it really got me all fired up. Thay gave me a copy of the January edition of the Lake Fork Area News, hadn't really looked at it yet but found a link with the December edition......http://www.lakeforkareanews.com/PDFs/LFAN1206.pdf Thought everyone might enjoy it. I noted Fishermans Cove has an ad in there.....longnecks for two bucks.....seafood feast on Sunday and they even have calamari (Texas style) for Muddy....Karioke is only on Fri and Sat so we'll miss LBH and Avid singin to us ;D. Anyway its got some fising info etc....we're getting closer.........
