With something like the Dobyn’s rods, you have to pay a fee to have the rod replaced. I feel like this mitigates how much is baked into the price of the rods, but that’s just my opinion. I get what you’re saying though, especially if the replacements are free.

I think I should have articulated this better. I agree that bass don’t grow as big in colder climates. What I meant was you can’t look at a pond and say “it’s small so there must be no big fish here” or “this lake is massive it must have huge bass in it”. I believe if bass live in a body of water, they have the potential to grow to state record size. Hopefully that makes more sense.

How do the helium’s compare to something like a Dobyn’s champion extreme?

Wow. Everything from 3/0 to 6/0 being suggested. Quite a wide range. Anyone ever tried those double hooks that look like hollow body frog hooks?

Japan Tackle is great. Jun who runs it is very helpful and quick to respond to questions. His English is also very good. I also like the fact that Japan Tackle gives a warranty with their reels and will also facilitate the factory warranty for you.

I’m a tatsu lover as well. You can buy 1,000 yard spools for $150-200 bucks on amazon. It was cheaper a few months ago. Not sure why the price went up. How often do you change line?

Oh of course I’d buy it from Japan. No way I’d pay $1300 for a fishing rod! Being the cost is only around $100 more than a steez AGS and similarly priced to the NRX+ (when bought from Japan) I’m really curious how this rod stacks up against the best of the best.

I don’t have experience with copoly lines. What does it do better than mono or fluoro? I may have to try some out.

I used to live/fish in New England, which is where the 10 pound bass was caught.

How do you determine the maximum size possible in a certain body of water? In my opinion, you can’t. My biggest fish came from a small pond full of tiny underweight bass. We could catch 20-30 an hour of those little guys. Then as it was getting dark I caught a 10 pound bass. Only a pound short of the state record for the state I was in. I never would have expected a 10lb bass to be in such a small pond that was full of tiny bass, but there she was. Fat and healthy. After that, I highly doubt maximum size of bass for a given body of water can be predicted accurately.

Does the JDM steez a II have brass or aluminum gears?

Thanks! The power pitch is exactly what I’m interested in! I have a champion extreme 745 and I’m thinking of replacing it with the power pitch. How does the power pitch action compare to the Dobyn’s? Does the power pitch do well with jigs and t-rigs from 3/8-1/2oz?

I’m quite fascinated to learn this. Do you have any pics of the joint on the steez real control? Does it screw in or snap in or what? So does that attach to the grip? How is it kept secure?

Yeah it was spinning on the cast too. Whenever I’d go to pluck a piece of grass of the bait my slack line would wrap my rod tip. How did you untwist your line?
