Jigs
I mainly throw Keitech jigs.. I got a bunch of free Jigs in the mail from a Japanese company called Jackson so I've been using those as well. Theyre pretty nice. I will also use GMoney because I won a bunch at a tournament and *** from time to time. I think you will get 100 thousand answeres here as there are so many jig manufacturers. Just look around on Tackle Warehouse and buy what looks good to you.

spinning for bass fishing?
Spinning is great. I use Quantum Smoke spinning reels.. I would say that I am fishing with a spinning rod 0-100% of the time while on the water. Just depends on the day.. So having both will do you good.

Rod lure weight confusion
I find rod ratings useless. Actually your problem can be solved with a sharpie. Just cross out the ratings and throw whatever feels good on that rod. If it feels to heavy or to light then dont throw it or change rods. Line can be a factor as well.. Lighter line tends to cast better with lighter lures etc.. Good luck.

I Always end up with 6 or 7 rods but tend to end up using 1-2. 6 is pretty standard.

Working In San Francisco For The Next Year
go message freelancer he bank fishes a lot of the marin lakes. you could catch a lot with just a drop shot rod around here. Lots of small reservoirs with rather affordable boat rentals for the day especially when you split the cost. you will have some long days trying to fish without a car but it is possible because the public transportation is pretty good. good luck.

California Tournament Trail
What do you want to know. You sign up and you will be told wether you are in or not the week of the tournament. get in to the first tournament and then befriend your boater and voila you can get guaranteed status into them all. I for one do not like the format as it only benefits the boater. as a co in shared weight you can catch 5 fish every time you go out and your boater can catch nada lets say but since he's not on the fish your bringing in dinks to the scale. now thats a lot of work for what wont cut you a check but probably would have in a reg format or at least would have gotten you points to contend for AOY. Now lets say the co-angler in first doesn't catch a single fish but he gets first place because his boater caught 5 monsters. well now your gonna feel kinda ticked. the pay out is separate so on the co side you do not have to put in any effort and you can still cash out. If your just looking to get out and are not concerned with loosing money then by all means sign up. If it were me I would sign up for the Wild West Bass Trail.

Anyone From The Phoenix Area?
No one? Went over to Canyon lake the other day when I was in town for interviews. Canyon lake looks nice. Lot's of bass boats out. Literally just down the road from my house so that's nice. I've been to Saguaro as well. Not much opportunity to bank fish at either due to terrain so not sure if that's worth my efforts.

Black Dog Baits Shellcracker G2?
They come and go. Are produced in limited quantity. You have to keep you eye out daily. I sold a few on Ebay. I made $$$$$ when I paid less than 20 for each. could be a good little business. buy them up and then resell on enay for triple or quadruple the price.

Anyone From The Phoenix Area?
Well moving to Phoenix in the next few weeks if all goes well with the job interviews. Taking a year off fishing tournaments (non-boater) and well not sure what opportunities there really are for those without a boat in the Phoenix area. The house we bought is like 30 min to Saguaro so that's nice but bank fishing big lakes can be hit or miss. If anyone wants to help me get my bearrings with fishing around phoenix that would be great.

Spooling A Spinning Reel
#1) Youtube has good videos on how to spool line. There is a specific way this must be done. #2) There is absolutely no reason to not use braid on a spinning reel and this will mitigate your problem. Then tie a leader of whatever line you want. #3) Don't overfill.

Lets Talk Optics
#1 dont buy online - try on in store to get proper fit. all brands/models within those brands fit differently. really try on a bunch and pay attention. #2 brand doesnt matter. absolutely ignore everyones opinions. get what's best for you not what's best for joe schmo. #3 get glass lenses because you wont scratch them and they will last a lot longer. your gonna feel pretty stupid if you buy a plastic lense for 200 bucks and drop them and scratch them up. It will happen. Theres no avoiding it. I prefer copper all around for lense color. #4 I love my Maui Jim's but they cost me $300 #5 don't drop them in the lake.
