  1. I'm old enough to remember the test pattern and I always wondered why the Indian (PC alert- Native American) was on there?
  2. To answer your question, yea I get backlashes. But most of the ones I get nowadays take only a few seconds to pull out. Even the pros get them. If you have ever watched FLW/BASS/UMF/MLF and you see an angler make a cast and pull out some line, pinch the line and crank the reel he got a backlash. Its just that the backlashes they get are small. If you are getting backlashes that run through the majority of the line one suggestion I have is making a long cast, pulling off about 30-40 more feet of line and take a small piece of tape and place it where the line meets the spool. Basically what you are doing is making sure that the backlash doesn't go any further than that piece of tape. Once you learn how to control your baitcaster more you won't need the tape anymore.
  3. Was it hit from behind by a Corvair? Dang that Ralph Nadar!
  4. Agreed. Most bang for your buck. And if you fish in some pretty rough places like I do its better to buy that $1 spinner bait and lose that then buy the $7 spinner bait and lose that.
  5. I can't believe the Ain'ts are back. Haven't seen them in a long time. Time to buy stock in the paper bag industry.
  6. North of Bloomsburg, close to the new Shickshinny boat launch. Water temp that weekend was cooler. Not sure how cool but I could feel the difference between Wednesday when I was out and Saturday as far as water temp.
  7. Remember you are not doing this for a living. This is suppose to be relaxing. Even if you aren't catching anything try to learn from it. On days like you are describing (hot water) I try to do things I've never tried before. Deep dragging a jig, finding new targets like deep stumps and rocks, and slow rolling a spinner bait. If you ain't catching bass on the typical technique, try the non-typical. Worst that could happen is you don't catch anything which is what you are doing anyway.
  8. These pics are from this weekends trip to the Susquehanna river. My first fish Saturday was the biggest of the weekend, coming in at about 3 1/2 pounds. Caught it throwing a small beetlespin style spinner downriver. It gave me a good five minute fight then jumped out of the water. After that happened I thought I lost the fish cause I didn't feel it on the line. Turns out the smallie ran upriver faster than I could reel. When I caught up with it on the reel it was still not exhausted. It tried to swim between my legs like most do but I blocked it then lipped it. After the big one all the others were dinks.
  9. In this day and age where $12 to $20 baits are the norm its nice to see a $1 bait being used. Especially one that, IMHO, outproduces many other baits.
  10. If I could afford to move you would see a Pennsylvania license plate driving past with the driver smiling and waving at everyone. In about 2 months we will have 40 degree temps and with no luck...snow! Coming up, 5 months of no fishing. I'll take grumpy neighbors over that any day.
  11. Imagine this guy with a fishing rod. That is a "Power" fisher.
  12. Steelers had no offense, no defense and no luck. I gotta admit it. Looks like the Eagles are the real deal. Eagles defense stopped the pass and the run. Eagles running backs ran all over the Steelers defense. And Wentz is as good a qb as they are saying he is. I'm a Steelers fan but we got our butts handed to us today.
  13. I thought this thread was about Colin Kaepernick's football career. Too bad. I was hoping for some good news.
  14. +1 for the grub. So many people have forgotten about them anymore. Good luck.
  15. A lot of electronics on there. Don't want to hear them complain about me having my ipod on ever again.
  16. If I got married when I was younger half of nothing would still be nothing.
  17. Huh...What now? Are you sure you read the title of this here thread correctly?
  18. Be glad that is all you received back. Could have been divorce papers and a separate bank account.
  19. Around my area it's Stewart's Root Beer that everyone drinks. Its based out of NJ but we don't hold that against them.
  20. You'll see more of this coming around soon. Netflix, Amazon, HBO and other cable offshoots have dumped 100's of millions of dollars into "new" tv programs and now the networks have to compete more for viewers. So a rehash of an old show is going to be the norm not the exception. Hollywood loves to give you what you already loved....remember "The Force Awakens". Where did I see that before? Oh yea, I remember, 1977 when it was called "A New Hope". Unoriginal programming from an unoriginal source. BTW is anybody planning on seeing that new movie...umm lets see if I remember the title....Magnificent Six...no that's not right. What was it again? Anyway I hear its gonna be great(*yawn). Think I'll pass on this one. Maybe I'll go see the next remake of a film that was a remake of a film that was a remake of a film.
  21. I have a pair of neoprene 3mm waders with stocking feet I bought at Cabela's years ago. Most of my wading is in late spring and late fall/ early winter. Water temps are between 40 and 60 degrees. I wear sweats underneath and don't really have too many problems. Yea its sometimes a little warm but not too bad. The problem is finding felt soled boots. Because of all the concern over invasive species, some people have deemed felt soled wading boots a no-no. I use to just go into a local sporting goods place and buy a pair. Now I gotta go to a fly shop to pick up a pair.
  22. Is it just me or does Jay Cutler look like he is homeless?
  23. Congrats to the lil' guy. Those are the types of memories we all remember from our youth.
  24. Zima wooohooooo!
  25. Got out on the Susquehanna river for some wading. The river is low but that is normal for this time of year. The first smallie I hooked was a nice 1 1/2 to 2 lbs. The 4 others were dinks but fun. The first one came on a Zoom fluke. After that nothing bit for about an hour so I switched to a small spinnerbait with a twin tailed grub on the back. That bait is almost a guarantee to catch fish on the river. Not a big bass bait but good for numbers.
