Just north of Milford Beach off of 209. Road leads down close to the river and there are spots you can bushwack through. Big ones are hard to come by but if you are there at the right times its more fun than a guy should have with his pants on. Late spring/ early summer were the times for big fish. Before all the tourist start paddling down river in there inner tubes.

I know what you're talking about A-Jay. Weather at this time of year can be totally unpredictable. I've had the last 4 days off from work and heard that the big smallies were biting at Lake Wallenpaupack. We had serious rain storms rolling through, not to mention a huge low front sit over top of us. Storms so bad I was stuck indoors thursday & friday. So when I did finally get a chance saturday to get to the lake the fish had lockjaw and nothing would get them to bite. Finally gave up and headed to the river. Caught a couple nice ones to salvage the day. I'm not looking forward to winter coming. I know its just 2 months away but I'm not giving up that easy.Thankfully plumbing isn't a problem. My dad was an apprentice plumber before he went to Korea so I learned alot from him. Now heating, that's a different story.I don't know why people complain about the smell. Lake Fork Tackle use to make a craw tube that smelled so good with the garlic that every time I opened up the pack of baits I got hungry. So hungry I would have to stop by the grocery store on the way home from the lake and pick up some garlic bread to kill the cravings. As far as the bright yellow hands, well that's just funny right there.Spinner baits and crank baits are a good bet but remember that you are competing with live bait and that is always tough to compete with.I've got a similar dream. The street in front of my parents house is flooded. Its only a small trickle of water covering the entire street but I'm pulling smallie after smallie out of it. Used shotguns are pretty cheap and more versatile than a .45 ACP rifle.Look up trajectory graphs for .45 ACP rounds. That will let you know how far you can shoot. BTW a hi point isn't the most accurate or reliable rifle on the market which is why they are so cheap. If you are gonna hunt you need a good rifle to make sure you kill what you shoot at. Too many hunters have wounded deer with poor equipment. The sport is in taking the game not just injuring it.Beautiful view you got there. Congrats on the new home and may you and your family enjoy it in good health.I've flyfished for largemouths but never for smallies. It was a lot easier to learn than I expected. I picked up the basic cast at an outdoor expo in Harrisburg about 20 yrs ago and while I'm no expert I can fool a trout every once in a while.Anything from a half an ounce up I use tungsten just because of the size. Lead is still pretty cheap and they haven't outlawed it in my state yet. Not to mention that I still have lead bullet weights from the early 90's that I haven't used yet.
