  1. Didn't see the Brady thing coming. Only means Brady will be in better shape come the playoffs. I think the Pats could go 2-2 in the first 4 games. If he was suspended for the last 4 games of the regular season I think it would make more of a difference but the first 4 is not that big of a deal.
  2. I'm just going by what I've heard about F&S. I have never been to one but have been to Dick's. But there is also clothing and other apparel that seems like it would be a duplicate. Kind of like BPS and Cabela's band clothing. If F&S is only selling outdoor equipment then that would make more sense.
  3. As far as color, most of the soft plastics I throw have some sort of flake in them. Red, blue or black flake is my favorite. I've found that any soft plastic with flake in it breaks up the color and makes it look more natural. No fish or crawfish is one color only.
  4. I use Terminator inline spinners for smallmouth bass. As far as getting them deeper the only way is to buy heavier ones. The trick is to run it as slowly as possible while still having the blade turn.
  5. To add another element to this discussion I found out that a mall in NEPA is going to be replacing a Sears store with a combination of Dick's Sporting Goods and Field and Stream stores. I looked it up and they are the same company selling much of the same stuff under different names. So you have two stores next to each other, owned by the same company, competing with each other. Really??????? Do we need that?
  6. Agree. They are more expensive than just a ballhead jig but I like the heavier hook. It won't bend on you.
  7. 15 million a year for Norman, 50 million guaranteed. That is a huge hit for the Redskins. Not sure he is worth it. Problem with the contract is the guaranteed money. If Norman doesn't work out he still gets the 50 mill. and the skins pay up. Meaning next year money is going to be tight so they may not be able to keep other players.
  8. Finesse rigs now a days have to be part of your bass fishing knowledge. Lakes are getting more crowded, fish are more pressured, and lets face it, we can't always pick the days we get to go fishing so you have to be able to finesse fish in bad situations if you want to have good days in fishing.
  9. Light or dark is pretty much it. Dark on cloudy, dark days and at night. Light colors during the sunny days. I know topwaters come in many colors but none of that matters. All that matters is what the fish see.
  10. Good buy my friend. Around here rebel craws are the go to bait when the weather gets hot and the river gets low.
  11. Can't believe there are still roadside stands that have no one occupying them. Just a sign with prices on them. Its the same concept. You leave people to decide what is right and wrong. Most people know the right thing to do. Some do it, some don't.
  12. Thats the first smart comment I heard today for the Eagles making that trade. Most of the radio shows I was listening to today bashed the move as giving away to much for to little.

Prince's songs were part of my teen years and I'll never forget walking into the local bowling alley and hearing Purple Rain for the first time. So sad he is gone to soon.
  14. To me fishing a jig was a natural progression. I fished texas rigged plastic worms and the bite was similar. As was the fishing style. Pitch or flip it into lilypads/weeds and hop it slightly. To detect the bite I found holding the line as it comes out of the reel with your thumb and pointer finger helps feel really subtle bites.

Your welcome and feel free to ask any questions. The people on this forum are good people with a lot of information on a wide variety of subjects.
  16. I don't fish a hollow bodied frog but they seem too light of a bait to fish on a med-heavy or heavy action baitcasting rod. Do you guys add any weight to the lure?

Yup. Click on your name on the forum or on the upper right of the screen and then click on the "see my activity" button.
  18. As far as rods a 7' to 7'6" medium-heavy or heavy action rod with a fast tip is what I use. The reel should be high speed. At least 6 to 1 or higher to quickly reel up the line. If you can find a combo like that you have a good setup. Personally, my reel is $85 and my rod is about $50. Jig fishing ain't cheap.
  19. Here in PA they are alot alike. Both sell hunting/fishing equipment, other outdoor stuff and clothing. The only difference is BPS has a boat center and Cabela's just sells a few jon boats and v-hulls.
  20. Now it gets real in the AFC North. Browns got a lot of picks for a unproven qb pick.
  21. Yup Heddon Torpedo has my vote. Its the one I use the most.
  22. Ugghh...if this happens prices are gonna go up. And they are probably going to close some redundant stores.
  23. I'll be down there to help ya. Just send the GPS coordinates and I'll bring the sandwiches.
