  1. I noticed this in a local pond I fished when I was a kid. I was really curious about why the other fish wouldn't bite so I tried fishing at different times and found that more bass would hit my lure at night, usually at times around dusk and dawn. I also found that bigger bass hit at those times also.
  2. Here's one I heard on the radio today. Haven't heard it in a long time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TbfQPRgcS8
  3. I like to hook the dreamshot by inserting the point of the hook into the nose and then out. Like if you were going to texas rig it.
  4. I agree with BobP. Give his advice a try. Putting the tag end through the eye of the hook again does make it stiffer, for the lack of a better word. I use dreamshots and haven't had a problem with it hanging straight down. It does droop abit but just the slightest movement makes it dance. If the problem still happens VMC has something called a spinshot drop shot hook.
  5. Titans have 5 draft picks in the first 3 rounds of the draft. That with a good QB (Marcus Mariota) is pretty much all you need to get you deep into the playoffs. Why can't my Steelers ever make a trade like that. Maybe we could get a decent defense.
  6. In my opinion, bass don't communicate with other bass before, during or after being caught. Past experiences have proven it to me. Catching a bass and other bass follow it. Releasing bass and catching others on the next cast in the same spot. Releasing a bass and watching him swim down under the boat and then catching other bass in the same area the previous bass was just released to. If bass communicated to each other none of these things would happen. I think its a self-fulfilled prophecy. You keep the bass to not spook the school and the school is not spooked. Not scientific but neither is most of what we do when we fish. Its based on what we think happened last time we did it. Nobody truly knows.
  7. I'm not a professional but I play one on tv. As far as you being crazy its not an easy diagnosis. You must answer a few questions first. Do you sometime grab your dog by the lower lip? When talking to friends do you refer to your significant other as a "keeper"? When you had your first child where you glad he/she was over 15 inches long? Did you change your middle name to Johnson/Mercury/Evinrude? Please answer all of these questions honestly and remember I charge $200 dollars an hour for my quasi-professional diagnosis of any mental illnesses.
  8. Josh I know what you mean. The hollywood idiots don't know much about guns. How many times have you see a gun fight involving almost no magazine changes? I own many guns and know that you can't fire a fully automatic rifle for 3 minutes without a magazine change. It only takes a few seconds to empty a full magazine on any fully automatic rifle. But I suspend my sense or reality when I watch a tv show about the zombie apocalypse.
  9. Kinda looks like an Erie Dearie.
  10. Definitely a Johnson Silver Minnow. It was one of the first lures that I really geeked out over. It is probably responsible for the addiction I have now. The wobbling action, I thought, would attract bass from miles away.
  11. I just hope MLF doesn't go to the WFN cause that on my cable company is a higher tier and that means more money for me to dish out. It would be great if they re-broadcasted on CBS but so far I haven't see it on my cable network and its not on MLF's website.
  12. Nothing worse than a back boater asking you to slow down. Especially if you are catching fish by runnin' and gunnin'. I never fished tourneys but have had this experience when fishing with friends.
  13. It allows for television better than the typical tournament style where you have to wait to find out who wins in an elaborate ceremony. The only problem is it is not gonna draw crowds to the vendors booths or sell t-shirts. Also local businesses miss out on the big crowds that weight-ins bring to a community like Guntersville. But as far as entertainment value, I love it. You see the lures and techniques used by the pros and how stressful a tournament can be. Its made perfectly for television. I've gotta say that last year was the first year I ever went to a major BASS tournament and the spectacle was amazing. Not so much in the Philly tourney cause most thought that was a bad idea. But when I went to the one on Cayuga Lake in upstate NY it was a show. I enjoyed seeing the boats with all the pros gear and skeeter was there giving rides in one of its top of the line bass boats. I would (and probably will) go again.
  14. If its got a rocky bottom I use tubes. All in all, any crawfish imitation is probably your best bet.
  15. If you've seen me you know why my parents didn't get a trophy.
  16. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_League_Fishing Not sure if the link works but this will give you some insight on what it is and how it was formed.
  17. Perfect timing. Heard the weather is gonna be fantastic over the weekend.60's to 70's. Just hope the wind lays down for ya.
  18. I believe its the alien technology that allows them to broadcast the program from the lake without the need of tin foil or duct tape or any other space age materials.
  19. Jig, jig and a jig. If that don't work throw a jig.
  20. Love the Mogambo grubs for big spinnerbaits. Gotta try them on swim jigs too.
  21. Sinkers, jigs, bullets and a bunch of other things can be made by melting down that lead. I pick up lead everywhere I see it. Tire weights on parking lots are good too. Outside the local Walmart by the tire shop door is where I get most of mine.
  22. Feel bad for Jordan Spieth, then I remember a Little League game I lost when I was a kid. My dad took me home and said I shouldn't help him with the laundry that day cause I did enough folding for one day. My dad didn't have much of a sense of humor but we both laughed at that one. He taught me not to take things so seriously.
  23. Try slowing down, fishing specific spots. Big bass can get lazy and at times would rather not move if an easy meal is near. Someone once told me bass are like people, they prefer the refrig not too far away from the couch. Also I agree with the big bait, big fish theory.
