  1. Talk about living the dream. Those are some beautiful trout.
  2. I keep saying that about the Brownies. I think the NFL should take a hint from the NBA and have a lottery draft. Maybe if certain teams weren't guaranteed the 1st or 2nd picks in the draft they might want to be more competitive.
  3. Had $20 left on a BPS card so I stopped at the Harrisburg store and picked up some Kalin's 5 inch grubs. Those will get plenty of use. Also bought some GY Shad Shape Worms. Heard they are good for drop shotting.
  4. If I'm getting skunked routinely I will try to put myself on the water at the best time of the day to catch fish. Bass are ambush predators and like to hunt in those times that give it the best advantage. Those times are usually 1 hour before and after sunrise and 1 hour before and after sunset. Those can be prime times for bass to feed. Topwaters and big spinnerbaits with Colorado blades and dark skirts can catch big bass at those times.
  5. Agreed about the ESPN contract. It really has hurt BASS more than helped. They use to air BASS tourneys during the winter. This was before everyone had the internet and could find out who won.
  6. I fished on a farm pond for years but the owner decided because of liability reasons he couldn't allow anybody to fish the pond. At the time I was young and didn't understand his reason but as I got older and know more about how life works and have seen and read things about this I couldn't blame him. Funny thing is I worked for him for 3 summers while I was in high school. That is how I knew that pond had some good bass in it. Oh well, that's life.
  7. Cold is when you go outside and your nose hairs freeze. Really cold is when your nose hairs freeze just thinking about going outside.
  8. Time to bring out the onesie and the slip-n-slide and put on a show for the viewers. Possibly get that tattoo I've always wanted on my butt. Maybe practice taxidermy on my grandma. So many things to do, so little time, so many people spying on me.
  9. I'm with ya bro. Any change to my routine twists my little brain to the point of not being able to concentrate. Getting old ain't for the faint at heart.
  10. Should I bring my hat?
  11. This fall has been crazy but I've given up after this round of rainstorms. The screenshot is from the USGS website and explains why this fall has been frustrating. The red arrow at the bottom is where the blue line would have to be for me to be able to fish this section of the river. I really need a vacation some place warm and dry.
  12. I was checking out the article on BASS's website about the 2018 National Championship participants and I'm amazed at some of the countries these fishermen are from. Namibia, France, and Italy. I know Australia and Zimbabwe have had anglers in BASS before but the other countries I didn't think about. Also, I know we have members from Portugal and Spain. I wonder if they know of any French bass waters or do the French bass fishermen travel to other countries?
  13. I would if I could get past the permafrost and not get eaten by the polar bears.
  14. Steelers beat a huge division rival in the Ravens. Roethlisberger should never run with the ball....ever. I was screaming as I saw the Ravens player run him down.
  15. Merrells are the best around. Good thing is they have a bunch of styles. My advice is find a good store near you that has a good selection of them so you can them out. If you got an REI near by they are a good place to start.
  16. You forgot #5. Lottery
  17. Something similar happened to a coworker of mine and the company hired 2 young people fresh out of trade school and he mentored them for 1 year while still collecting a pay check. He spent more time sitting down than he ever had but at the end of the year, the company had 2 highly trained people to replace him. If your health allows it Jim, you might think about teaching at a local community college. You decades of experience could really help change someone's life.
  18. Slightly turbid. The local Trout Unlimited's work shoring up the banks with large boulders and planting trees to keep erosion at bay means mostly clear water year round. They do great work. Real problem is the leafs. Everywhere the water slowed or made an eddy tons of leafs piled up and I couldn't get my spinner through without snagging a couple. All in all I was happy to catch the 2 I did enjoy reliving some of my youth.
  19. You are right. I didn't notice the difference.
  20. The weather changed for the better and I didn't want to be stuck inside so I meandered over to the local trout stream. With all the rain we got there are so few calm pools to fish but I found 2 nice brookies to take the Thomas spinners.
  21. @J FranchoDo you work in the printing industry? I ask because the whiteboard behind you has Multiple Web Folder on it and we used web folders where I use to work when making phone books.
  22. Found this on the web.
  23. Those numbers are insane. I love how you set the line at 7 pounds. To most people 7 pounds is a giant. Down there its just another bass.
