The Patriarchs were nice. Why Pflueger has stopped making baitcasters is beyond me. Pure fishing destroyed that brand.

This is funny because of all the guys who knock Doyo but their reels may have Doyo parts in them. LOL !!!! With the way things have gotten so global you never know.It happens in automotive also. I love when BMW drivers knock Chrysler 8 speed transmissions but drive cars with the same unit in them and don't know how foolish they sound.

Doesn't really matter to me as long as they perform and have features I like.

It looks like the actual brake is attached to the cover and not the spool which would make for a really light spool.

Lew's all the way. I just feel they are the best for the money. I'm not saying other reels aren't good because that's not true. I also think people criticizing Lew's for not making their own reels and having Doyo do it don't know Lew's history. Lew's has always farmed out production. Shimano and Browning have both produced Lew's reels. I also feel their is nothing wrong with Doyo quality as I've never had a failure.I regularly outcast others with the famous Japanese reels every time we fish.Lews products and service are top notch.

This is new at icast. Trying to get info. Supposed to be 500$. Has P2 pinion and a new style magnetic brake. Looking for other specs. It's not on the website yet.

What sense does that make ? Brand new cranks can break that way . Been fishing Rapala cranks for years around rocks with no issue.

How are you setting spool tension.

I would fish straight 50 lb. Braid Sufix 832 on any Lew's reel with the externally adjustable centrifugal brake. They can be set to be backlash free but still cast very far. The BB1 Pro LFS will cast it the furthest. You should learn to use your thumb as much as possible but these reels will ease your pain. You should also cast with handle pointing up or down depending on left or right reel and which hand you cast with. This decreases backlash. Also don't cast for distance . Distance comes with time .Use your wrist and not your arm.

Loomis will probably replace them if you pay the fee for their replacement plan.

The key to that is to take 99 percent of the slack out and then you can feel it. Agreed though that flouro is more slack line sensitive .
