When you guys skip it how do you set it up. Spool tension loose or tight ? Centrifugal brake all the way on or what ? I'm a Lew's guy and I'm thinking of buying one to skip with.

Tape is not needed on modern drilled spools. Just tie to the holes. A lot of spools now have a center slot for your knot to sit in.

Different weights ,blade configuration and colors.

I just ordered 10 from BPS. They should be here Monday the 13th. Does anybody else know where to buy them ? Does anybody else have opinions on them? I usually use Booyah and Strike King.

Either use slightly more magnets or use your thumb a little. Is your spool tension set correctly ?

I never use spinning rods.

Lew's makes good stuff.

Johnny Morris signature series is on sale for 139$. It blows both those rods away and has a 10 year warranty. Either that or get a Dobyns Sierra micro or regular guide rod.

I used them for years. They were great. Highly underated. That's a shame.

Get a Lew's LFS at the $99 price point. You won't be sorry. I would also go with the shorter rod.

Red label is $47 at sportsman's outfitters.com for 15 lb test at 1000 yards. It's decent line for the money if you like flourocarbon.

It should be fine with braid. Braid has no stretch. The rod makes up for it. Switch to 50 lb. Sufix 832.

Get a Lew's mb or LFS so you don't waste your money.

I had guides bend numerous times. Straightened out and never had an issue. I'm not saying they will never break but hopefully you're ok

Reaserch guides. You'll find out Fuji is the bench mark. Aluminum oxide are the softest Sometimes braid grooves them. Alconite or zirconium is my h better and no problem with braid. Sic is next. Fuji makes torsite also which is the absolute top.

If you are losing fish at the boat get a net.extra fast is basically for soft plastics. I use Dobyns Sierra Series fast for everything else. They run softer and more forgiving. St.croix is generally stiffer. I still have yet to figure out why St.croix went to substandard guides on the Avid x. IMHO they should be at least Fuji alconite. Also get rid of the leader. Unless your in gin clear water with no weeds you don't need it and if you are I would use mono or flouro.
