  1. I can't believe you guys use such long rods.
  2. Which is why I use a net. Why don't they let pros use nets ?
  3. 100 percent agree even though I use straight 50 lb braid. As you said that would be proper for the style of fishing you were doing. This guys doing topwaters on 8 lb fluoro. The line is to light and the wrong type. When I use 50 lb braid with my 20 lb drag at about 15 lbs the big girls can still pull line . Not very long but they do pull it.
  4. On most topwaters which are probably thrown over weeds 14 lb. Mono minimum or 50 lb braid . Flouro sinks so it works against your topwaters. And yes my 20 lb drags are set around 14 lbs. I want that fish out of the cover asap.you don't need a dedicated setup. Any good mh fast rod should work. If using a a Dobyns then heavy would work.
  5. Why would anybody use 8lb test flouro on top water ? That's senseless to start.
  6. IMHO there is no excuse at that price for aluminum oxide guides.
  7. Victory might be a good rod if it had quality guides instead of $90 rod aluminum oxide guides. It should have at least Fuji alconite.
  8. That reel doesn't have the p2 pinion bearing
  9. Tournament Pro out of those. I definitely think the brakes work far better than magnets at all weights.
  10. Pure fishing has owned them for years. They bought Pflueger in 2004. Ok here's my next suggestion. Get a Lew's.
  11. Contact Pflueger. Don't return to store. I've ever seen a reel that didn't have a 1 year warranty.
  12. If you bought it in December 2021 it should be warranty.
  13. I bought Dobyns because of the reputation and warranty. I also bought because of them being well balanced. They have cork handles which I like. I have 2 Sierra Series Micro guides one 7 ft and a 7-3. Both heavy action fast. They fish like mh from other brands I've owned.ive owned bps, gander mountain, 13 fishing, all star platinum,Shimano , Abu, Quantum tour series. The Dobyns are plenty sensitive with good hooksetting power even with the softer tips. They are light and well balanced at the same time. I hate Duckett rods. I hate white rods.
  14. Totally but 1 power lighter.
  15. I used bps top line rods for years . They were totally consistent and seemed right in the center of any other brands I tried. I am now switching to Dobyns and they are softer tipped with the power needing to go up one step.
  16. Get Sufix elite. You'll never look back if what you want is a great handling mono.
  17. Never had it cause an issue. Maybe on an aftermarket paper thin spool.
  18. KVD uses 3000 size reel for line management. I would use Sufix elite mono.
