  1. My Lew's custom lite. I've owned Shimano Diawa Abu Garcia round reels including a morrum . Owned a MGX that turned into a coffee grinder.Loved my Pflueger Patriarch but it is now underwater.
  2. He says in the first video he uses it and wasn't going to stop. The video is intended to get people to try to make a better effort at not gut hooking fish. Obviously he has seen enough of them on neds to be concerned. Maybe guys here haven't because maybe the guys here are more careful . That doesn't mean he should be ridiculed and called a has been. He is forming his opinion on his personal observations.
  3. So KVD is a washed up wannabe also ?
  4. I stopped fishing live bait 35 years ago. I stopped because of gut hooking.I wound up catching more bass with lures than I ever caught on live bait.
  5. Gotcha didn't know that !!!
  6. When did I say that ?
  7. I wouldn't call him a washed up wannabe . He's a 4 time FLW angler of the year and has won 4.2 million . Last AYO was 2019. It's ok you don't agree with him but he's far from a washed up wannabe. He's achieved way more than most anglers.
  8. Except I never said what was in that quote. That was a different poster.
  9. 3/8 tungsten weight on flouro or braid should be fine on the Sierra. Those who say they are not sensitive must have dead nerves. I have arthritis in both hands and both pinkies and the fingers next to them are numb. I can feel everything on my sierras.
  10. That would be my choice in the microgude series since you don't need a leader when punching.
  11. Wouldn't a longer rod have you Fighting against the fish? The leverage is not on your side.A 10 lb. Fish would feel heavier on a longer rod. It's like lifting weights. If you hold a 10 pound dumbbell out straight you can't hold it up as long as you would close to your body.
  12. I know a guy who flips a bait up in the air and whips it down to shoot it through the mats. He catches lots of 5-8 lbers here in ny that way
  13. There are plenty of guys who punch through thick mats with 2oz. weights. They don't look for holes they create them. Where they fish they need it to get through. Not my style but guys do it and love it.
  14. I'd love that !!!! Corn bread is yummy !!!
  15. What are hush puppies ?
  16. I've seen it a lot with senkos. I think the main idea is to do as much to not hurt the fish as you possibly can. Try to set the hook as soon as possible and be as carefully as you can removing it. If I have to I cut the hook with a cutting pliers. Better to leave a small section in than rip out their guts.
  17. Watch the entire video before you post. I think he has some very valid points. We must all do what we can to help prevent this. We must all make a extreme effort to do the least damage possible.
  18. Nobody. But the point everybody is missing is these carbon drags are usually much better performing over the entire range of drag. Often they can be set lower than other types..
  19. I guess my scales wrong or my reels suck.
  20. Not really. Nobody says you have to set it that high. The 20 pound carbon drags perform better all through the lightest to heaviest settings. I've had 50 lb braid on a 7-6 bass pro Johnny Morris flipping stick and have had fish pull drag at 15 lbs setting. When I'm flipping trees I lock it down so I have my best chance of getting them out.

  22. I hate it when people drag them up on shore. I hate it when they take pictures of them on the ground. I hate it when they boat flip them and crash them into the carpet and drag them . Get a net with the fish friendly netting.
  23. And it doesn't rain only overcast which would have been great fishing. Kick yourself when you do that.
