  1. I've used the new BB1 pro in 6.2 ratio for cranks. It's awesome . Casts really far without backlash. 27 point externally adjustable centrifugal brake makes life easy. Ipt is 25 inches. Has a drag clicker so if you troll with it it's also cool. The reel is very smooth. It's an LFS type frame but is slightly larger than a regular LFS because the spool is bigger and holds more line. I prefer externally adjustable centrifugal brakes to the dual braking system which the super duty 300 has.The 300 has a little more line capacity but it weighs a bit more.
  2. I went fishing with my brother in law today on Lake Mahopac ny. 10 to 29 mph winds and the only thing they would hit was Alabama rigs down 20 feet in 40 feet of water. My question is since he and I are new to the Alabama rig what gear ratio reel do you guys who cast and wind these things with and why.My brother in law had a 6.3 to 1 and I had a 8.3 to 1 .He tried mine and preferred it. I hooked a fish and felt the 8.3 to one helped me during the fight. The thing I didn't like was that really the rig in gets tiring with that ratio .
  3. Totally agree and I have Lew's reels with rulon drags.
  4. I had the same problem with winn grips
  5. They are in stock at Tackle Warehouse both rods and reels.
  6. rod snobs dont like lews. i personally dont like the grips and prefer cork. seems like a fine rod if you like the grips.
  7. theroretically the extra fast tip should be slightly more sensitive. i personally feel rods are getting to long. accuracy suffers but distance goes up. we fished with pistol grips that were 5-6 when i started. 6-6 rods are getting hard to find.
  8. He said it was a Lew's 3000 reel which makes it a spinning reel. You are correct though in saying he didn't specify .
  9. That fish is 5 plus . At that length under 5 would look skinny. Your scale is off. Nice fish.
  10. ive never seen this even with 10 pound braid .the line lay is totally different because the spools are much bigger and a spinning reel spool goes in and out causing a totally different pattern.the line roller also prevents a direct pull on the line so i really dont even see how its possible. ive never heard of anybody complaining about line dig on a spinning reel in the 30 years ive fished braid.
  11. I fish 1/10 oz Ned heads on a Dobyns Sierra 7-3 heavy. The tip is forgiving enough to do it easy but you have great backbone. I do it because I fish in a lot of rocks and use heavier line also.
  12. Team Lew's Pro SP or Lew's Custom Lite SLP.
  13. Braid does not dig in on spinning reels
  14. It's called a reel handle. Or maybe you were being funny ?
  15. Tie it through the holes in the spool and put a piece of electrical tape over it for one wrap.
