Jig fishing: prefer braid or fluoro? Advantages of each?
Ok let me revise that to finesse baits .

Jig fishing: prefer braid or fluoro? Advantages of each?
The limpness of braid let's all falling baits behave far more naturally than stiffer lines.

Jig fishing: prefer braid or fluoro? Advantages of each?
Casts better. Doesn't backlash as much. Doesn't get damaged by a backlash. Costs far less to use. No difference in catch rates at all. More sensitivity unless you fish totally slack line. Better hook sets.Cuts through weeds better.

Lew's XD Series Crankbait Casting Rod?
That goes contrary to anything I have heard about their customer service.

Getting back into Bass fishing
Line twist is your problem . Use a swivel at the top of the leader.

Jig fishing: prefer braid or fluoro? Advantages of each?
Flourocarbon has more stretch than mono. Once it stretches it doesn't return.

Straight braid

I second that.

Do you find flurocarbon improves bites when throwing moving baits in rivers for smallmouth when compared to mono?
Flourocarbon is not completely invisible under water. It depends on water clarity and sun angle. It doesn't matter anyway.

It doesn't make a bit of difference at all. If the bite is slow fishing flouro over braid or mono will do nothing for you. I've fished many times when it was slow with my brother in law and seen it proven. He fished braid with a long flouro leader I fish straight braid high vis with the last 6 feet colored black. When it's slow we both still catch close to the same amount of fish . When it's a hot bite it matters even less. lve seen it time and again over 30 years where it makes no difference.

Slack Line Techniques
I never fish with so much slack that I lose feel. And if I did I use high vis yellow braid with the last 6 feet colored black so I can see a strike. I hate flourocarbon line and have given it up permanently. I fish straight braid for everything.

fish finder for non boat owners
I just got a Garmin striker 4 portable for $199.its unreal. I can see my Carolina rig weight and the lure behind it and my buddies blade baits being jigged at the same time in 30 feet of water. The sonar is super clear for this price. Just starting to learn the GPS. It also comes with a flasher. The battery is no where near weak after 9 hours on the water. It will definitely go days without a charge.

New spinning reel (light) scuff/scratch noise
Send them back.

Don't know what else to do...
Did you mark fish on sonar ? A lot of times they are out deep chasing bait balls.ALABAMS RIGS cast or trolled work well when this happens.

Are clips worth using
I've used those also. They work well. They are very strong. I thing the speed clips catch less grass.. either one makes me happy.

Are clips worth using
I use Norman speed clips a lot with straight braid. I have no problems catching fish with them. They don't catch a lot of weeds and are really small. They also break at about 26 lbs of pull. That means if I'm stuck deep with my braid and have to break off I can wrap my braid around a dowel and break off if needed. I've never lost a lure with one. I fish a lot with jigheads and use them also. All my spinnerbaits are closed loops so I use them with them. I take the snap rings off hard baits and use the speed clip directly.I fished a tournament last week as a co angler in a team tournament and caught more fish than my flouro fishing partner. Having clips means less rods needed.

There going be shortage/increased price for Fluorocarbon Lines
You guys know how to fix this. That's all I will say.

Why can't I flip?!?!
Yes sir but I'd go 50 lb.

Line that can double for cranks and topwater?
Braid works great for cranking. David Fritz converted after using mono for years. You can feel everything.

Line that can double for cranks and topwater?
Sufix 832.

Need help simplifying.
One example would be spinnerbait fishing. It's very common to use 20 lb. Mono to help keep the lure up if your fishing it over weedbeds. It's not all about lb. Test.

Spool Weight?
