Agreed. Why would we worry about a Dobyns being heavier. I really doubt it and guarantee it's better balanced.

I've very rarely heard guys complain about how long the Diawa or Shimano stuff lasts or the quality. Most of them say the quality is fantastic. I'm not a Daiwa or Shimano guy but I know they are quality. The machining and designs are far superior to years ago for all manufacturers.

Electric cars and boat motors powered by lithium batteries are anything but green. The mining of the lithium is horrible for the environment. The batteries can't be recycled. They are charged by electricity produced by coal burning plants in a lot of places. If you want to kill the earth then go ahead and believe they are green.

Uh yes. They cast better and last longer and are smoother than ever. That pretty much is true with the big 3.

Sorry I thought you were taking a shot . I think Diawa Shimano and Lew's all have great reels. It's just a matter of what someone likes. It doesn't make one better than the other.I would try the Elite but I don't have 499$ for one reel. Right now the 299$ custom Lite is my favorite.

Why is that ? My brother in law has a metanium and it casts no better than a tournament pro. The only thing that got mopped up is an extra $200 out of his wallet. And if we are going to say the $400 dollar Shimano is better than the $200 Lews then the new Lew's elite at $499 must be better than both.

Go with the braid. Braid backlashes are not harder to remove and the line doesn't get damaged. I learned on braid .

Anything more than fresh oil just send it back. I oil all my new reels.

Why ? Just exchange it. It's warranty but may not be if someone works on it.
