No leader ever. If I think it might help I'll use a rod with mono on it. It made no difference on my last trip and I got no bites on either.

I've lost numerous large bass on lipless cranks right at the boat.One of them was a definite 5 plus smallie. That hurt the worse because it would have been a pb. I finally got so ticked I went and bought a net. Haven't lost one at the boat since then.

And that is why I only use baitcasters.

Absolutely true. I have 2 of them . They are both awesome rods . Lots of back bone but they have enough flex to keep fish pinned .

Do you have to much line on the spool ? That can cause the line to brub and bind.

I actually got a chance yesterday to fish with my brother in law's Alderbaren. It's an awesome reel without a doubt. At 4.8 oz it's .1 oz lighter than my custom lite. It was very smooth and solid.When I compare it to my custom lite I understand why someone would buy it. I personally would still get my Lew's. I used his for an hour and he used mine . He was severely impressed that my Lew's casted further by a smidge and felt as smooth as it does. I was impressed at how smooth and solid his felt. When we switched back we got the same results distance wise.l prefer the way the Lew's feels palming also but maybe that's because I'm used to it. I would still purchase the Lew's but I'm not knocking the Shimano in any way. They are both high quality reels IMHO.

Yes it's acceptable. Whatever floats your boat. I personally am brand loyal to Lew's reels. I love BPS Johnny Morris Signature Series rods. I started switching to Dobyns during covid because I couldn't find BPS rods in stock in the store. I am brand loyal to Sufix line. Lures are something that I'm not brand loyal to.

Never had a Palomar slip with braid in over 30 years.

You should be able to see frayed braid. What brand of braid is this ?

Just because you use braid doesn't mean you don't have to retie.heavy weeds require heavy braid. At least 50 lb. I crazy glue all my knots. I also use Sufix 832.

They should just change all the Cabela's stores names to BPS. Glad to see I'm not the only one who likes Johnny Morris rods.

I'd get rid of the leader or use straight mono or fllouro . I use straight braid all the time.

I've used bass pro rods for years . I have a patriot which is awesome. The rest are johnny Morris signature series. Great rods for the money. Also have a ten year warranty.
