Which bait cast reel would you want in distance cast contest?
Ok lets revise the rules. Casting competetion for all BR members 7'6 heavy rod everyone will share (supplied by the T.D.) 1 oz casting plug or 1 oz sinker with line tie 3 different events 1. Pitching to targets out to 35 feet. 2. Casting to targets from 40 to 150 3. Long distance. Events will not be weighted equally Events 1&2 will count for 50% of total score and event 3 will count for 50% of total score. Can bring 1 reel spooled with line of choice. Can use any stock, not modded bass baitcasting reel limited to a 300 spool size no performance upgrades allowed. Any line type or size allowed. What are you bringing to the competition? Go

Braid digging
Some soft braids get puffy on the spool and will dig no matter what. Thats why i stick with o.g. power pro. Good hard braid. I do want to try sunline fx2. Not a fan of j braid or samurai

Shakey Head Size?
Thats a good place to start. Im on the other end of the spectrum from most i like a 3/8 oz owner or Devine with a 3/O hook for trick worms and grande bass air tails. And a half oz 7/O devine shaky in the summer with smash tech mag crawler, and mag trick worms . Ill throw these when football jigs wont get bit and i know im around some fish.

Losing Jig Fish on Heavy Action Rod
Imo. A fish that comes off on single hook application, Wasnt a good hook set (well past the barb) to begin with. This doesnt mean the rod, line , hook, reel combination was wrong. Could be technique, or bad position in the fishes mouth. Lots of variables. But as stated using a 7,3 heavy and some decent line imo the odds are in your favor for catching fish. Could just be a string of bad luck.

Jig rods recommendations & braid vs fluoro
Funny i have the braillist and i dont like it for throwing jigs. Football jigs 784 dobyns Pitching or casting flippin jigs to cover and targets. I like a 745 dobyns. Both with 20 tatsu. Occasionally braid if im around alot of grass. But a skirted punch trig around grass has made a jig obsolete imo. Have to admit ive never fished a swim jig.

Most slime resistant rig / jigheads?
Pegging a T rigged bait stream lining the bait. And bury the knot in the bait helps even cut tag ends will snag slime. ive yet to find a slime proof rig. That stuff is the worst

Confused about......my worm?!?!
Trick worm is a bit bigger can be used interchangibly with a finesse worm for the most part. If you like those. Give the z3 swamp crawler a try. My personal favorite.

Using side scan to locate bass in THICK matted hydrilla
Is this effective? Or possible? I have a lake with unbelievably thick matted hydrilla. About the 16 foot contour line it grows to a few feet sub surface. But from about 10 foot deep to the bank its matted very thick on the surface. Have been punching with a 1.5oz weight resulting with low numbers, seemingly above average size. Is it possible to succesfully idle the edges and scan these mats, and actually be able to diferentiate fish. Btw i rarely ever use side scan. Have elite t.i. gen 1, 9 inch units. Please input anyone with experience. I try to focus on Mats where there is also a contour change like points ,humps or drains ...the text book stuff. im learning to decifer by how thick the mat is and how it relates to the bottom contour. Thicker mats usually a high spot. Thinner usually a depression. Most bites seem to come from the thickest part in the 8 foot range+/- (Like so thick some times a 1.5oz wont go through) its tuff. Sonetimes it can feel like finding a needle in a hay stack. But i still love it

Favorite football jig
Paradise tackle 3/4 oz F.B. is my favorite. Really they only brand ive bought for the last 9 or 10 years. Truly a custom jig down to the hook make, size, and gauge, skirt material, color, hand tied, best head shape design IMO. I throw a fb jig alot. And paradise tackle is the deal. Its an Old school guy out of Paradise ,Ca only really has product in local shops as far as i know. Maybe, probably on social media but i wouldnt know dont have any of that i just call him and put in an order.

The Biggest worms
My friend is into throwin huge swimbaits and has molds for many ridiculously large stuff. He gave me some home made 15 inch lizards. Caught a 7+ on a bed at Montecello that wouldnt even look at anything ,craw, jig, zoom mag lizard not a sniff. After 30 minutes. I remembered i had those nest raiders and put one on my t rig. As soon as i flipped it in there she circled on it and started flarin up i think she even changed colors... I reeled the bait in quickly. tied on a bigger hook cause i wasnt sure a 3/0 round bend would work. Best thing i had was an 8/0 beast swimbait hook first flip back in she ate. It was awesome. Ive got a pic of it somewhere

Dobyns Champion XP 764cb vs 804cb
Ive own both for some years now and use them both alot. Imo a dt16 would over power a 764. For me half ounce is the top of the sweet spot for 764. I also love throwin kt spoons and slabs for whites on these rods. To me 764/3xd, 804/5xd, 805/6xd, 806/10xd (or equivilent baits of different make) i also throw alot of 6th sense and some norman and a few others. But that is the perfect match for my cranking needs.

Calling Curado K owners - Lighter baits and worm gear
I like a long 10 to 15 foot leader only because when ive got a big one at the boat goin crazy i like to have my knot several wraps deep in the spool. As for the OP question ive probably got close to a dozen Ks since they came out. never had an issue

Megabass Orochi XX for light texas rig?
I love 1st gen emtf for t rigs. Its the same rod as dsr but a few inches longer. Brailist is good too but but kind of dull in my hands. Own all 3 plus more in the 1st gen. Pretty much fish all dobyns now but that emtf is still one of my favorites.
