  1. I've been using Glenn's technique and I think putting the spool in a cup of warm water really works. You get rid of the old memory and make new memory that conforms to your spool
  2. Regular 2d sonar would be fine. Down imaging will give you a clearer picture but the cone is very narrow compared to 2d. Saving GPS waypoints is probably going to be your most useful feature on a combo unit
  3. I have the same rod with a broken tip. How did you repair or modify it?
  4. Kayaks are generally shorter, more stable and easier to paddle for one person. I have a hybrid kayak which is essentially a one person canoe
  5. Look for used kayaks and get a decent paddle. Malone handi rack works well to car top.
  6. 25 is way to small for a medium rod. go with 30
  7. 6lb mono or 10lb braid on the ML 8-10lb mono or 20lb braid on the M You don't need more than 75 yards of braid on top of the backing. Backing can be any cheaper mono that is close in diameter to the braid. Unless you have a line counter, you'll have to eyeball the amount of backing
  8. Mepps Spinners if you have room to cast. Otherwise I'd just use crawlers under a float.
  9. Well I like 8lb XL on spinning and 12lb XL for BC. So I'd split the difference and use 10lb XL. I'd be comfortable using it on spinning and casting reels. Weightless senkos, 1/4oz t rigs, 3/8oz spinner baits/chatter baits, in line spinners, lipless cranks, shallow cranks, and more are possible
  10. Yep, Lund IPS hulls can get into some skinny water and fit four people easily. If the Pro V is out of your budget, look at the Impact line. Lots of bass fisherman use them in the north country
  11. Just drill holes in the shallow trays and then they are"hydroflow" trays How do you like those flambeau satchels? Just picked up two for plastics and one for terminal tackle
  12. That's what I like about pflueger. A 30 is slightly smaller than a 2500 Shimano. The 25 is pretty similar to a 1000. I've used both for ned but the 30 matches up better with medium and medium light rods. Retrieve speed can vary depending on the gear ratio. The supreme is faster than the president for example
  13. Lightning rod shock or a lady ugly stik are colorful. BPS crankin stick.
  14. I have these nets for kayak and boat. Fold up very nicely. I don't know why there are so many negative reviews but they have been good to me for bass and pike https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-gold-series-folding-landing-net
  15. I missed out on these deals but did pick up a second president xt casting reel for $50 on Amazon. I already have one of those and a regular supreme. The supreme might be my favorite reel
  16. I wasnt a fan. now I have a cabela's binder that is the same size as a plano box and fits in my tackle bag
  17. most people wont give up lakes or locations up there on the internet, myself included. my suggestion is stay away from Eagle River, ST Germain and Minocqua areas that get a lot of boat traffic. check out boulder junction and star lake area
  18. Every state, county, etc is different. Just saying here in Illinois it is not allowed on many lakes. About 10 years ago I purchased a sevylor fish Hunter because I didn't know any better and hadn't learned about kayak fishing yet. You really have no place to store a kayak? I know guys that keep them in their bedroom or living room. Even heard of guys taking them in the elevator of an apartment building.
  19. that 50-60 degrees was fool's spring. now we're back to second winter
  20. check your local regulations. around here a lot of public water does not allow the use of inflatables.
  21. boomerang snips are awesome knipex cutter is a must for anyone that also fishes musky and pike with thick treble hooks extra long nose pliers and forceps
  22. If you go mojo, the 71MF is the plastics rod and would be decent all around.
  23. dont overlook the st croix eyecon series in light or medium light depending on the lures you're using and the size of the fish
