  1. Semper Fi brother! Mooresville, NC in the house
  2. generally, yes
  3. a new floor jack, some gift cards and a trip to a football game with my son.
  4. many moons ago, me and my cousin wanted to do some fishing but we had a high wind advisory that day so lauching the boat was out. we ended up walking the bank at a smaller lake. it was early April and the water was still chilly and muddy, plus the wind. he tied on an old red rat L trap and i did not. he makes me sick. the end
  5. i use nothing but painted weights nowadays, but it was'nt always that way, and i am not totally convinced that it makes any difference either way. i've caught lots of fish in the past on plain old lead bullets. now it is predominantly red in late winter/early spring w/gp plastics, black for post spawn/summer w/june bug and gp plastics and then gp/gp and black/june bug combo's in the fall. i like to paint my own bullets with Testors model paints. BPS painted weights dont hold up for me. Cabelas are alot more durable but i fear a fall off in quality due to their aquisition by BPS. i like to purchase "raw" Bullet brand weights and do my own thing with the paint. git r done
  6. i love me some spotted bass. pound for pound, as fierce a fighter as they come. i can only imagine the digging those big girls done.
  7. TnRiver46 is on top of it alright. deeper schooling fish can move around with the bait and can be difficult to pin down. you can always fish docks and points in the "hot hole" or try locating bait/fish on your electronics in some of the main creeks on Norman....Hicks, Rocky, Stumpy creeks are north of the 150 bridge. McCreary creek (just south) can be good when you have a southerly fetch blowing warmer surface water, from the hot hole, towards its banks. Hagers and Mountain creeks, a little further south are good as well. venture towards the lower end of the lake and i am not going to be able to help you much. but i can tell you this, BE VERY CAREFUL navigating the lower end of Norman during these low water conditions. numerous sand bars and shallow flats can spell doom for those unfamiliar with the lake.
  8. surface water temps are running in the mid 50's right now and the lake is down over 6' from full pool. you can find warmer water temps near the Plant Marshall "hot hole" below the 150 bridge. we have been catching them up river near the state park but i feel that many are schooled up now and doing the winter thing as the bite has slowed down somewhat. i know some guys do well throwing crank baits but i prefer smaller plastics in green pumpkin or june bug. i aint no expert by any means. just my 2 cents. good luck and be careful.
  9. this is not your fault brother. i know people who have raised their kids in a loving home, this kid grows up with no problems, that kid has problems. how did this happen? same rules, same love, same everything. there is no rhyme or reason. you do the best you can, then they become independent minded, and it is up to them to live their own lives. you said it earlier. the choice is his to make. all the money, rehab, or enabling wont change a thing til HE says so. when you get to the end of your rope tie a knot and hang on. God bless you
  10. hang in there brother. my heart goes out to you and your family.
  11. same here
  12. amen to the "johnny bottle" and catt's striking paper. might i add stowing about 5 of those plastic grocery bags, that we all seem to accumulate, for making the occasional, emergency "off shore deposit".
  13. my kind of thread right here. well done guys.

  18. replacing the carpet in the Javelin, new fish finder for the console and the usual boat pm. as for the jon boat, i'll be taking it out of the water for the winter soon, might sell and upgrade there. decisions. i usually sink some christmas trees but that wont be happening this year. take stock, restock, and pm gear and tackle. edit: good time of year for me to get the outside work done around the house. git r done
