That's too bad. When I made my first order with them the owner called me up to confirm my color section and we chatted for a long while, he was very chatty and a super nice guy. I still have not found a head I like as much as the old Gophers. Rock River is now offering a 1/32oz head with small hooks, but really I just want a 1/16oz with a #2 or 4, but it seems impossible to find one.

I really hope someone ends up buying their molds and starts making them again. Clearly the demand is still there.

I am pretty live and let live but geese do not respect the food chain and at times need to be reminded of their place on it. I used to work with a lady who boarded her horse on a farm with a huge geese population. The horse girls would be sent out with 5g buckets to steal their eggs in hopes of keeping the numbers down and the eggs would make their way to me. I will say that for all the PIA geese can be, their eggs more then make up for it. The yoke is about the size of a chicken egg and is a vivid orange. They are super rich and a goose-egg quiche is amazing. Two of them make a huge omelette and one of my coworkers made a cheesecake out of them.

What's a BFL?

Hi, I fish out of a Native Slayer 10 and am looking for some advice on what I should be looking at in a sonar unit. My main interest is in seeing bottom contour and the ability to make my own maps/charts. I care less about trying to spot fish then just getting a clear idea of what the bottom looks like. I fish a lot of spots with poor to non-existent charts and mainly just want to get a basic idea of what the bottom looks like. I want a unit where I can mount the transducer inside the hull and keep the unit and battery in a Cellblok or something like that. I don't mind drilling a few holes or chasing wires and the ideal is something where I have the fastest/easiest set up and removal of the unit/battery. I am not sure what terms to even search for as sonars/fish finders seem to exist in a ocean of acronyms, so my googling around has been less then fruitful. I would love any advice or ***. Thanks

I bought a Black/Blue 2oz bladed jig from Picasso on a whim with an idea to try it on some of the deeper reservoirs around me, but the idea of kayak trolling for stripers with an oversize one sounds like a much better idea. I wonder how much drag a pair of them would cause and what speed I would want to keep them thumping?

A scant few months ago I scoffed at the idea of matching reels to rods, now I kinda feel like the combo needs to match the lure! Kidding, but that rat is one of my favorite lures, I feel like an idiot throwing it, right up until I get bit.

I also have a Slayer 10 and agree with all of this, esp the part about the Left hand rudder. I use RH retrieve reels as well and have to keep a little tethered hand paddle on my right side if I need to maneuver while fighting a fish. My only other beef with it is how much it spins in wind/current, but it's a 10' long by 35" wide boat, so it is to be expected. I bought it like 2 years ago and I don't know if I would buy it again today, the market has blown up so much that there are a ton more options now. I didn't use it as much as I wanted to this past season, but I am going to use it hard this year and see how I feel about it in the winter.

I resisted spending the money on a C-tug for a while but none of the cheaper ones I bought worked well or survived for long. The C-tug is pretty great, but is a bit of a pain to use on my wide yak. I added two ~20" webbing runners to each side, it makes it a ton easier to get the yak on the cart in the water. I suspect a floating rope will work better and will switch to that once I get my splicing skills a bit more solid.

Moaner Hooks have a few different weighted hook styles and while non of them are truly "light", they are for sure not "heavy" either. They have a pretty reasonable flat shipping rate, so picking up a pack or two at a time isn't awful.

I have had it out about a dozen times since I got it over the winter, but sadly no really good bass yet. It is a really interesting rod, it is for sure a Mod action, but it has a ton of power without feeling stiff. My first fish on it was a 9" stocker trout who was trying to mate with my S-Waver, it managed to load the rod a little and I was able to land it without ripping the hook out. I have gotten maybe 8-10 bass with it using lures with large trebles and it is at 1:1 hit/land ratio with them. I have only gotten a handful of hits on jighook swimbaits and landed about half of them, but that might be me just wiffing the hooksets as my attention tends to wander after an hour or three of crawling a Hudd. The rod's ratings seem a bit off at the high end, a ~2.5oz Rat is about as heavy as I want to go with it, but on the low end it will cast a 1/2 spinnerbait or frog as far as I would ever want. All in all, it seems like it's going to be a really versatile "small" big bait stick and I think it fishes it's low end well enough that I will not feel overgunned if I am miles from my car and want to fish a jig or t-rig. I also want to try it with some DD cranks once I get my kayak up and running for the spring, I think the combo is up for it.

The Purple Monster is finished. Sv103h with some dress up parts, a 100mm CF handle, and for now a Zillion sv spool. Rod is a MB Hyuga 72H. Using it for swimbaits, big topwaters, and frogs.

Hah, I use a M/XF for flukes and have no casting issues, but for trick worms I step down to a ML/L rod to get the casting distance and accuracy I want.

So one of my projects this year is "Big Baits in Small Ponds" and this afternoon I caught the inaugural bass. Not a monster, but it was nice to get one. It hit a Gantrel Jr as it passed by some emergent pads. The park was jammed with people and a swarm of kids rushed me as soon as I hooked up. The kids were very impressed with my bass, with one exclaiming "my daddy never catches fish that big!". I am using a MB Hyuga 72H and I am really pleased with how it is working. The hooks on the Jr are not super heavy or big and the rod loaded surprisingly deeply, so I think it is going to be great for any treble hook lure it can load. I still need to see how it deals with jig-hook swimbaits, but I am very hopeful. I also helped a couple who lost control of their stroller, which launched into the pond and settled like 5' off the bank. 55lb braid to a 25lb mono leader did the job and I was able to drag it to shore with ease.

A few places sell them, usually called "sled" or "draggin" heads. I have been using them for a few years now and they are excellent on rocky bottoms. I use them with all kinds of plastics from tubes to small swimbaits.

I solve this dilemma by using B&B jigs with a bit of purple in the skirt. Trailer can be either.

I actually have a pair of Ray-Ban Aviators on order, but I think the hot pink lense color will ruin the effect.

Because of this sunshirt I wear whenever I am hiking or fishing. My hiking buddy likes to make fun of me for it, I think I look mysterious and important

Ok, cool it sounds like it’s not an issue. Does anyone have a horizontal rack that they are particularly fond of? I’m looking to store about six rods, I’d like to store them with the reels on, but that is not a must.

Hi, I am running out of room for my combo and want to start storing some of my less-used rods on a horizontal rack on my office wall. I have read a little stuff online that suggests that this is bad for rods and they should only be stored vertically. Is there any truth to that? Thanks!

I think I am going to go for it once I find a pair of them for a good price.
